If you're like me and you've always
hated the tacky blue that the light standards and street furniture on 2nd Ave are painted, then you may be relieved - even ecstatic - to learn that the City is painting them black.
While I've only noticed the light poles to be getting the treatment so far, I assume this will be extended to the entire regimen of blue on the street.
It's amazing to see the instant modernization of the streetscape that it introduces. A small urban design detail with big impact.
Let's hope that the City has learned from their 1990s flirtation with colour in their streetscaping, all of which has not aged well. (I'm looking at you too, 22nd Street "red").
