Wan has probably made enough money from never-realized Portage and Main proposals to buy a nice new cottage in Lake of the Woods by now...
^ the absolute most valuable projects for any consultant, are the ones that you get paid to design, but never end up going forward.

All the fees, and none of the liability!

The skywalk connection across Graham into the new tower will also be a smoother transition, functionally and color wise I'm sure(or hope)
This is what I'm hoping for. A nice, clean looking block. Not the weird random looking angled brown pieces. Most are for doorways, etc. But it just looks bad.

Haha, those are some of the best, you're right! Although it is nice to see something that you've worked hard on get built.

With $35M budgeted, it appears like a complete overhaul.

The 1970s were the decade of Brown.

The current cladding is not Brown, but "wheat" coloured because it is/was called the Commodity Exchange Tower.

So the wheat colour is more of a Gold than Brown.

But I do ack. some are colour blind.

I'd like to see the Jets logo off of the P&M intersection off of the Scotiabank windows.

That offends me more than some perceived Brown cladding on 360 Main.

Scotiabank is a major Jets (and NHL) Sponsor so I don't think the logo will come off soon.

^ They took down the Scotiabank Jets sign a while back...possibly a few months ago? It was getting kind of tired... it was there for around four years. Things like that shouldn't really be permanent.

I was referring to the podium if you read the post. I do agree the 70s were the decade of brown but the early eighties to me were pretty damn brown too.

Late 70s and early 80s were brown.

So you're referring to the "Chocolate Brown" colour?

I don't mind that so much as I mind it on the St. Charles. Poo colour to me.

The colour we all detest on 360 Main Street and Scotiabank has a lot of Sage in it. And yes, looks like POO
Then the hideous dark brown trim on Winnipeg Square. I would be happy to see the original 1970's proposed colour used.. Like an Ivory or off white. It would look very clean n our over cemented grey skyline. The colour of for example The Radisson Hotel and Richardson Tower are far from appealing in their colours respectively.

The cluster around portage and main is pretty grey and drab as a whole. I'm hoping for some colour in this new building and reclad.

Also, lighting of some sort at night would be amazing. The RBC building has singlehandedly revitalized that entire corner in the nighttime hours. It is such an eye-catcher. Imagine if the new tower or the reclad had a lit up crown? We don't have any illuminated crowns in Winnipeg!

You bring up an interesting point.
So true, more lighting would spruce up the night views.
The Richardson lighting is lame... it needs more to it. Royal Bank looks good though.
I recall as a child, what is now The Radisson on Portage ave.. also what is now The Delta on St. Mary Ave... both had lights on every second suite at least and it lit up the building beautifully at night.
A reclad of the Bestlands/MTS @ 191 Pioneer would be nice as well.
The main MTS tower looks good in my opinion.

Both the Richardson or Trizec building could use something simple like this:

Love to see 201 Portage add a hat like Capella Tower in Minneapolis. Not much to it but looks awesome lit up.

I think they just need to put bulbs in. I photoshopped a Bryan Scott's photo a few years ago to illustrate it.
