Wow, Chex! Thanks for all the updates.

Those are impressive pics, indeed. I've been to Guadalajara on several occassions back in the '80s and '90s. In those days I was impressed with how cosmopolitan it was, I loved the tidy residential neighboorhoods with the red poinsettia street trees, and perhaps most of all the numerous classic examples of some of the oldest architecture found in the Americas. Now, I'm amazed at how in just the past decade or so, there's a brand new skyline along with a unique, rich, artictic modern style--which has evolved, complementing the former. I'm inspired to come see the new Guadalajara in person.

the main retail shop of the mall, won another prize. this time for best shop 2010.

EuroShop RetailDesign Award 2010

For the third time the EHI has awarded the EuroShop RetailDesign Award for the three best stores worldwide in January 2010. The award's ceremony again took place in New York during the annual conference of the National Retail Federation (NRF), the national retail association of the USA. In 2011 the prize will be again awarded at EuroShop in Duesseldorf.

The WINNERS 2010 - regarded on a par by the jury - are El Palacio de Hierro (Guadalajara/Mexico), Elord Golf Fashion (Seoul/South Korea) und Intersport Bründl (Kaprun/Austria).

EuroShop RetailDesign Award's Ceremony in New York
For the EuroShop RetailDesign Award an international team of experts from leading trade magazines and retail associations nominates the best stores with the most successful concepts. The jurors then select the three best stores from the many entrants. The competition will abstain from categorising according to branch of industry or size of business.

Furthermore the EHI invites its members and partners coming from store design and shopfitting personally to participate directly in the competition for EuroShop RetailDesign Award for getting still a broader pool for the selection.

The most import criteria for the award include a successful design, a comprehensive and inherently consistent (store) concept with clear communication of the product range, effective orientation towards the the target group and a clearly recognisable corporate design. Only this perfect mix of store design and visual merchandising, as well as pleasant message about the products on offer, can turn customers into fans and will provide a real shopping experience.
