Winnipeg needs another 80's tower of banality?

I'm pretty sure the Dutch are asking for that one to be torn down... Keep looking, Amsterdam has some great towers. You'll find a decent one soon.

I'd rather see a score more of these on vacant lots and strip mall sites than I would a new tallest:

it's one thing to ask for a new tallest, but that piece of crap??
I've never been to Winnipeg, but I've heard it's architecturally like Canada's Chicago.
I'm doubting that after reading this request.

Winnipeg is Canada's Chicago! Well on a smaller scale...

I can't believe someone can like that skyscraper, it's ridiculously ugly.

Edit: the title and the light bulb (!!!! yes, great idea) of this thread are misleading at least... clooose it!

I didn't do much searching (just looked at Amsterdam, really) and I think these buildings might fit in Winnipeg fairly well. If they weren't built in Amsterdam first, of course. No one likes a copycat.

IJ Toren

Viñoly

Mondriaantoren

Rembrandt Tower

Oh, only the last one is taller than CWP but you could stretch them up. They're really just ideas, I'm not saying we should transplant the buildings exactly as they are. Though they'd make amazing filler.

I'd like to choose a Minneapolis inspired model for our city.

# South Some Ordinal Numbered Street would fit in better than IDS or Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is more of a Montréal style building, IDS would fit in in Calgary.

Yeah, after seeing that, that's really disappointing and misleading.

Something has to be tall, like this...
