Lowrise proposal to cover much of the block between Chatham and Herald. Here's the Government at Herald corner:

Finally some action over at Dockside Green? Sort of, this office block is proposed for Harbour Road just in a bit from Esquimalt Road:

That's an awesome photo. Thanks for sharing that. I wonder if this was taken from a drone? I would like to post that photo on Zoomer's Found City photo thread too if it's okay.

I love this proposal. Just the right kind of faux heritage that I like to see as mid-density.

God I hate it when people do the "inquire about the price" thing, just list the price already, i'm not interested in little games like this. You gotta figure any 1 bedroom in Hudson Place is going to be at least 2G/month

here's something I came across on Reddit. the newspaper is from 1974 and mentions the developer of James Bay Square originally wanted to build 29 storeys tall!

I think this one was the tallest proposal from the past:

Quote:
Daily Colonist
February 25, 1972

City Council Talks 14 Storeys, Builder Aims Up to 24 Higher

No sooner had Victoria council taken the first steps... aimed at limiting highrise construction in Victoria to 14 storeys than it found itself in the midst of a controversy involving a proposed 38-storey building next to The Bay.

...aldermen authorized preparation of a zoning bylaw amendment which would have the effect of limiting highrise buildings to 14 storeys...

...Copp Construction Ltd. asked for a permit allowing... a 38-storey structure on the vacant lot at the corner of Douglas and Herald.

Restrictions contained in the interim amendment are considered very stringent.

...no building is to be higher than 30 feet at the street line; for each foot the building is set back from the street line, two feet may be added to its height.

In no case is the height to exceed 140 feet.

That would have been quite the development. I wonder if we'll ever see a 30 story building built in Victoria. I could definitely see one being built in Langford but hopefully downtown some day.

I photographed this old article for an old Victoria News paper...

That looks fantastic. I haven't seen the proposal yet so thank you for sharing. I was under the impression that the London Drugs proposal was 25 stories did they increase the height? I really hope it gets built like that. Pretty amazing.

I took this the other day from Mount Tolmie. The air was so clear I drove really quickly to take a few pics while on an errand from work.

It looks like it was taken from the roof or top floor of that brick government building near the bottom of Pandora that got converted to residential not long ago

This view is why Victoria is such a popular tourist destination: a city with unique heritage character different from other Canadian cities.

I love Victoria's old town sadly lots of old buildings have been torn down but many have been saved.

I'm not sure if I've shared these skyline shots on here before so I thought I would post them anyways.

Great shots. Slowly developing its own identity of having a modest Canadian mid size skyline. Victoria realllly benefits from its amazing natural backdrop as this would look pretty nondescript in any random Prairie or Ontario city of 300-500k size range, but fronted by that harbor it has the makings of something iconic in the future.

Wow knew they had closed the Museum downtown but never guessed that the new building would end up in Langford, none the less on top Costco!

This thing makes all those other enormous west shore pipe dream proposals that failed, seem viable. i'll be astounded if this happens. Why would they build it way out there anyway, where few tourists venture 10 miles from town in a landlocked suburb? On top of all of that, there's no way they could have enough exhibits to come close to filling up something this size, it looks ~4 times the size of the old courthouse and pretty close to the size of the Royal BC Museum

In over 30 years of following development in this city i'd say this is the craziest proposal i've ever seen
