I was in the Goodwill store at Mission & South Van Ness last week & was surprised to see the store half empty! I guessed that the store was to close soon, and that is good news as the development is moving along!

^^Quoting from minesweeper's earlier post: "San Francisco's flagship Goodwill Store at 1580 Mission St. (and Van Ness) will officially close its doors on August 12th."
Since this involves city goverment offices, it is essentially immune from the business/development cycle and is moving along. I have read articles suggesting certain city departments are fighting over who will move into the new quarters. It seems like it is solidly on track.
There was work being done when I drove by late this morning, though all I could see was the arm of a backhoe digging and dumping its loads behind the fence.
It was a very cheap building that was easy to demolish.
Socketsite called it "iconic". ROTFL! "Iconic" is another word, along with "hero" and "warrior" that we have cheapened to the point of making it meaningless.

I made a similar comment on Socketsite’s Facebook page...ridiculous! People were bemoaning the building’s loss for another tower.
