If you think that pic is awesome and you don't read Philaphilia and then you seriously need to start.
Thanks for the heads up. I will definately add that to my reading list.

Anything 400ft or higher at 13th and Market would really change that view.

Sorry if this was mentioned, but does anyone else see the similarity between this and Moscow's Mercury Tower? Kinda sorta similar but with straight-topped set backs. I think I like the Russia version a little better.

Unfortunately that rendering doesn't show the biggest difference between the two buildings, the color

It could be a possibility that the architects took some inspiration and ideas from that tower. In a lot of projects, there's always some sort of elements added that could be found in other towers. Sometimes, they are completely unique, but at times, they can borrow ideas and tweak them to work in a unique fashion that isn't a clone of another tower.

That tower does somewhat resemble the CITC from that perspective and I like the angled design of each set back. Not crazy about the color though - sort of tacky. CITC's color scheme is much better.

From the angle of the photo that Parkway posted, it looks like the spire-side of it (or whatever that part is called) is also more angled and "designed" and further differentiates it from CITC. Not sure it's really practical to fit a building with that shape in a small square block, but I still like it better than CITC.

As for the color, unfortunately at this point with nothing but all-glass towers going up, I think Philadelphia is locked in to the "transparent blue" color, since while a big gold building would look nice in a vacuum, it'd just clash against the Liberties and Comcast 1.

They could have done Cira and Cira South in gold though and it would have been OK. I wonder if there's some environmental benefits to the blue, like maybe it handles light / heat differently or something.

Been a few years since I've posted, but this is pretty cool... finally getting that 1000 footer I wanted when Comcast Center was built back in the day. I was pissed they didn't just add 25 feet to it, ugh... but am I reading right, this is 996 feet then goes over a spire to get well over 1k? C'mon, just give it 4 more feet.

Is construction really set to go forward this summer, and what are the odds it's actually built? I'm guessing pretty good since Comcast is behind it.

This is almost certainly a go. With Comcast taking up the majority of the space and owning a majority stake in the building and Four Seasons also signed on board there is no question about finances. As far as I know all approvals are there and no politician would dare get in the way of this happening. This has been in the works for a long time and you'd better believe it was already a sure bet when Comcast got around to finally announcing it.

they write about how citc surpasses the new york times tower and chrysler, then make it look TINY by putting it next to 1wtc in the diagram. it would look like a real statement if they put citc against the other two.

So this will probably start this summer right?

If so that's awesome, I think this building will look great in Philly. I just realized it will also be the tallest official height outside of NYC and Chicago

Ahhhhhh, those were the days. Things started to go downhill when we allowed the Masonic Temple to break the long-respected height barrier of Christ Church.
