Cool Grammys Go Green @ LA's South Collection

This weekend's Grammy Awards are going green at downtown L.A.’s first and only sustainably-built high-rise condos...

The South Collection, located just steps away from the STAPLES Center, is hosting an exclusive “Green with Music” luxury lounge and gift retreat complete with green carpet arrivals, an Ayuvedic Spa, organic food bar and urban oasis of eco-conscious products and services.

The stage is set for music’s biggest stars and we’re proud to host this living "green" showcase.

The South Collection Goes Green with the Grammys – Hosts Exclusive Green Gifting Retreat and Spa Prior to Music’s Biggest Night

LOS ANGELES, CA – January 30, 2008 – “Going green” will hit a high note on February 8-9, 2008 as The South Collection, downtown Los Angeles’ chic new high rise community, hosts the “Green with Music” luxury lounge and gift suite for Grammy Award performers, presenters and stars.

Located at 408 W. 11th St. (between Hope and Grand), “Green with Music” will be an invitation-only showcase of luxury eco-friendly products and services. Highlights will include soothing Ayurvedic spa and beauty treatments, a meditation/relaxation lounge, organic food bar, soothing music by official Grammy artist Robert Sturman, and of course, “Green” carpet arrivals. Invitees will include Grammy Award nominees and presenters, A-list celebrities from the worlds of film, television and music, as well as agents, publicists and producers.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit actor Brad Pitt's charity, “Make It Right 9,” dedicated to constructing green affordable housing in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans for families still struggling in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The South Collection was chosen as the ideal backdrop for this extravaganza because of its award-winning eco-friendly building design and close proximity to STAPLES Center – site of the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards to be broadcast live on February 10.

Angeleno residents are already tuned in to South as the model “green” community downtown, consisting of new buildings Evo (scheduled completion summer 2008 – www.evo-south.com), Luma (occupied, final residences now selling) and Elleven (fully occupied) – which holds the distinction of being the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold-certified condo in California.

And the beat goes on in 2008: Luma and Evo are also expected to be LEED certified, creating not only downtown L.A.’s first new neighborhood in 23 years, but a sustainable one at that.

The South Group, South Collection developers, is getting into the groove leading up to the Grammys. “This gathering of companies and products are aligned with our own sustainable philosophy, and can’t imagine a better place to bring them together than to our new green luxury highrise condos – the first in L.A.,” said Rhonda Slavik, director of marketing.

"Awareness of the environment has never been higher," noted Beverly Visty-Doman, founder and president of dharmata Public Relations and organizer of “Green with Music.” "Our retreat will provide green luxury brands a powerful platform, harnessing the power of celebrity and music to gain public exposure and make the world a 'greener' place."

After the music subsides from the Grammy Awards, the public is invited to experience downtown’s first “green” neighborhood firsthand during South’s open house showcase of Evo in early March 2008. There will be tours of Evo and refreshments. For more information, call (213) 622-5400, log onto www.southcollection.com or visit the South Sales Center at 408 W. 11th Street.

About the South Collection
Sophisticated, modern and entirely new, The South Collection has become the gold standard for luxury living in downtown Los Angeles, with its glass-wrapped exteriors, clean modern lines and sleek soaring heights. This sophisticated high-rise community, located in South Park just steps away from Staples Center and LA Live, consists of buildings Evo, Luma and Elleven and is downtown LA's first new residential development in over 23 years.

South brings unparalleled style to the city with each tower featuring elegant amenities in spacious (up to 3,500 square feet) residences. Innovative green building materials and sustainable design are another hallmark of South. Elleven is the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold-certified building in the state of California and Luma and Evo are also expected to be LEED-certified.

Residences are still available in the 23-story Evo, offering a lavish escape from the bustling city. Evo features a private 6th floor urban oasis with a pool, spa, cabanas, lounge-style seating and an outdoor kitchen. On the 23rd floor, the chic "Two-Forty" lounge and a state-of-the-art fitness center awaits residents with floor-to-ceiling windows, swank seating and a viewing deck with outdoor fireplace offering panoramic views of the city skyline. Residents can unwind in one of 311 fully-appointed condominiums, featuring ceiling heights to 11 feet, floor-to-ceiling windows (making the most of natural light), balconies and decks.
