True, it's nothing grand but i do like it. Also, it will be nice filler for that corner and bring life to the area. Also, it wont be as much of an eyesore as the Grand Hyatt is because it's not as tall and it's not so much in the open.

Have there been developments?

Most proposed buildings in any city are hardly original and look like something proposed before in some other city.

This building has a little of old Frost bank on the side that will most likely face Main Plaza, some characteristics of the courthouse buildings and the white of the municipal building and cathedral.

They can definitely make the middle section look better. Why do they feel it is necessary to break up a building like that? If those rooms have a different function and they want more window space they can do that in a more elegant way instead of putting a concrete box around it.

I'll take it. This looks way more interesting than the Grand Hyatt (though I do see some merit to the comparison in terms of the general dimensions/shape of the building).

The hotel was withdrawn from HDRC consideration for not showing the rendering in context to its surroundings, but this sounds like a temporary setback.

And I like the hotel more after reading that the design includes 45,000 square feet of office space and ground floor retail, along with a fancy restaurant.

Still looks pretty good. Clearly the old Wolfson (?) building that burned down was vastly superior in every way, but as far as hotel boxes go, this is pretty aight. And it's mixed use, so that's something too at least.

The eleven story blank wall in the last picture will not be blank. The developers will have a contest for a mural.
