The two tower cranes are still scheduled to go up sometime between today and Monday. I can't tell from the 1601 Congress webcam if anything is happening yet.

There was a crawler crane erected in the pit yesterday, I haven't been by today.

Based on the view from the 1601 Congress webcam, it looks like the tower cranes may be going up today. Block 164 looks cleared as well.

Still didn't see the second crane base installed this morning. The base for Crane #1 has been in place for at least a month now.

Man, for the past two weekends we've driven past that site 8 times on I-35 as we were out of town, each time I was hoping and waiting with camera in hand for some cranes, but nada.

Still no cranes. This is from Tuesday apparently.

Notice the OxBlue logo in the photo. There is a webcam for this - somewhere.

One of the cranes is finally going up. There's been a lot of progress since the last photos posted in this thread, so this hasn't been an inactive site.

First crane up. I like this webcam for the amount of projects it shows:

1601 Congress
Alexan
Waterloo Park
Brack Demo/Block 164
Dorsey

Looks like they're installing the cranes at max height so they never have to raise them. That mobile crane looks like it's pushing 300ft, and based on the crane height at the top of this page, I wouldn't doubt it. Surprised that Crane #2 would be installed first, especially given that Crane #1's base has been installed for months. Very excited to see this tower going up!

They moved the location of the crane base about 20 feet further south than it was sitting for months. There's also one segment of crane onsite. Looks like this time it'll be on-schedule.

Crane #1 is finally being installed. These cranes look really dominant from the eastside.

Crane #1 is taking a while. The shorter crane in this photo is from the Alexan, not the Dorsey. Crane #2 is the tallest thing in the sky from the East.

Never forget when the NIMBYs fought the increased height saying "it will only provide 17 Affordable homes". So the fought, and they won, and now there are zero. That's the playbook, it's never good enough until its onerous enough to kill the feasibility. Happy this is getting built, sorry we lacked the leadership to allow it to be better.

exactly, and lost a grocery store, additional retail, and units for the elderly if I recall correctly. It's a disaster....as someone who considered myself "progressive" most of my life, I'm ashamed of our "progressive" council. "No it all" politicians make me sick. They have no guiding force, ethos, point of view....other than....."no".

Thank Ora Houston. Austin is definitely much better off with Natasha Harper-Madison.
