^^^ Great set Bvic. That last shot is her best angle. From some other angles, she looks a bit top heavy due to the higher ceiling heights on the final two frustums. No cause for alarm though, since all frustums will appear to tie together once the glass is complete.

Seriously though, thanks for braving the temps and documenting that moment in time for Vista and Chicago. The history museum owes you one!

^^^ Remember cameras can flatten perspective so it looks a bit differently in Bvics photos than real life. The upper frustums being stretched doesn't seem top heavy in real life because they are farther from the viewer and therefore appear smaller to begin with. The stretching of the top tier is actually a clever trick that should make this building appear to extend forever towards the disappearing point once complete, much like the Infinite Column I've posted several times now.

Amazing shots, BVic! You could call that last series "Polar Vistex"

These photos are AMAZING. Really top notch. And to go out in this weather is also amazing.

The building gets better looking by the week.

Does anyone have information on why they are not glassing in the east wall of the lowest section? I know that there must be a construction/staging/mechanical....reason and I am curious about it. I am just not knowledgeable about construction on this scale.

I like how for the frustrums angling out there are black lines at each floor's overhang, then the slope in looks smooth. Adds a lot of texture for those views looking up from the base.

I thought the proportions were going to be all off on this tower when I first saw the renderings, but it's turning out great!

Really amazing shots guys. That is true dedication right there. I wish the city could look that way when the weather is in the mid 70s.

It's probably topped out, right? What a (beautiful) monster.

Stay safe in the cold!

My wife, Amy, and I went out to the lakefront yesterday to check out the scene.

She took this shot of Vista with her telephoto

Great pic!

Zapatan too answer your question... in that picture you can see it doesn't look to be topped out...

The picture in the post after yours shows another crane segment so I'm going to go with no, it's not topped out.

Haven't been to Chicago since May/early June but coming this weekend. Can't wait to see this thing in person and what it's like now.

Oh yeah! Very much lucked out. It's going to be in the mid 40s on Sunday too, so that should be pleasant.

There were actually some people from the Chicago office who were visiting here this week - they got lucky with their planning too. This morning had -15 to -20 wind chills which is kind of cold, but bearable with the right clothing. Watching people here think it was the end of the world though? Priceless. For a cold weather city in the winter, the amount of people who can't handle anything below 35 degrees still blows my mind.
