^ That's a neat shot of the tower. The interior attraction associated with it was the first incarnation of Disney's "It's a Small World".

Disney also did the attractions for GE (Carousel of Progress), the State of Illinois (Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln) and Ford (Magic Skyway).

The Carousel of Progress ran for many years at Disneyland and then WDW. The dinosaurs from the Magic Skyway are still around at Disneyland in the Primeval World diorama (Disneyland RR between Tomorrowland and Main Street USA).

As a side note the Tower of Americas was the tallest observation tower in the US (750 ft tall) untill Stratosphere tower in Las Vegas was built.

Yeah here's the wikipedia article on the '68 Worlds Fair or HemisFair There were some other buildings built in HemisFair park like HemisFair Arena where the Spurs played before the Alamodome was built but I can't find a pic of it they tore it down a few years ago.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HemisFair_'68

This website has some pretty good info about the HemisFair

1935 - Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil -Centenario Farroupilha
npt an OFFICIAL World Fair... it was done to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Farroupilha Revolution, a 10 yr long was (1835-1945) between my state and Imperial Brasil.

several international pavillions (including german nazi, which had several simpathizers in the state due to strong german immigration in the 19th century), but it seems a big part of the pavillions were from different brazilian states (most in art deco)

São Paulo pavillion

Santa Catarina

Pernambuco

Paraná

Pará

Dunno what happened to these nice pavillions though

the park built for the "world fair" is still there at least

The aesthetics on that Brazil Pavilion are amazing - about twenty years ahead of its time. I love it!
