Thanks for all the great pictures.

Did the Higgins Hotel get all of its structural problems solved?

That's sounds horrible. Is it going where the blue tape is? If so, I can't see how they are allow to block the sidewalk like that. No one wants to walk on a narrowed sidewalk, especially in that area at night. I understand they have to do something about the flooding, but why not put it right next to the building?

I hope they at least make them planters and not just and ugly concrete wall. Wouldn’t it be better to upsize (or maybe just clean) the drainlines under the Street? Is this flooding karma for renovating/enlarging the property right before the stormwater retention regulations went into place and not abiding by what they would have required?

I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about The Matador now that The Julia is nearly complete. I think True Foods is opening in about 30 days.

A new, $55M dining hall at Tulane: A closer look at school's biggest project since Yulman Stadium

https://www.nola.com/news/education/...daf7da944.html

Following the last meal Tuesday night at Bruff Commons Dining Hall, Tulane University's longtime student cafeteria just off Willow Street, the school's marching band played a dirge as members of the football team watched.

But the mourning would be short-lived. On Wednesday, bright-eyed newcomers marveled as they poured by the hundreds into the university's newest facility, a $55 million, 77,000-square-foot state-of-the-art eatery and study area called The Commons.

Marking Tulane's biggest construction project since Yulman Stadium, the on-campus football stadium that opened in 2014, The Commons doesn't just offer a replacement for Bruff Commons, a small and antiquated 1960s-era cafeteria, according to Tulane President Mike Fitts.

Next up is a new housing complex starting where the old dining hall is right now and then expanding to replace the two dorms next to it. That should be the largest (in monetary terms) project in a long time - outpacing the stadium. I'm curious to see what the renderings look like for it.

Saw projected height at 150 ft. Bellsouth tower is 200 and the annex is 125 so should be somewhere between those two just for perspective in that last image

Gov. John Bel announced another Tech win today for the Nola-Br metro with a new cyber security center at the new water campus near downtown Baton Rouge.

Also has anyone heard of any updates on Deep South Studios or on Starlight Studios expansion?

Welcome @mgi_construction to our family here at Zephyr! @mgi_construction is building this great multi-plex at 1212 Carondelet street. Steps from the St. Charles parade route and minutes to downtown.

The bigger rumor in Baton Rouge is that Amazon will buy Cortana Mall, tear it down, and build a massive distribution center there.

Also, airline tenant orientation begins next week in the new terminal according to a friend who works for an airline there.

ok so i finally got more information today while walking by one of the engineers... the taped off areas will be covered in planters and greenery and they will be able to slide small gates into the opening areas whenever a major flood event is happening ... sounds like it could be really nice
