The 905 might be a crossover but Stantic will now be the tallest west of a Toronto Burb.

When the Stantec proposal was being considered being made an official project at the boardroom table, long before the proposal was presented to city hall, Toronto would have had 4 taller buildings. It takes a couple years just to decide how much space they want, determine an affordable budget (particularly during acquisition/recession period), and see if the board has the stomach for it.

So in ~2011 when the Stantec proposal started as an internal project, Trump was under construction but not yet finished, and Aura was essentially a hole in the ground.

"Few buildings" would have been more accurate but "couple" isn't far off the mark.

In hindsight, its likely the city asked Stantec (and other companies) if they would consider building something in late 2008/early 2009, before the council vote to close the City Center airport.

I was talking about the downtown area in general. Not just the ice district

everyone knows that if a Mississaugan said they were from Toronto, Torontonians (in all their smugness) would say, "uh, no you aint".. yes, geographically, there is no disputing it's a Toronto suburb.. so yeah, it's a bit of a stretch to say 'tallest west of Toronto' technically yes... as Mississauga is just a stone throws away.. but Stantec will retain that distinction in the eyes of most which makes total sense.

Tallest out of/west of GTA, out of/west of Southern Ontario, it's nothing to really care much for. Either way, it's still a great distinction.

For anyone outside the GTA, Mississauga is Toronto. Just like how for anyone outside the GVR, Burnaby is Vancouver. This is what happens when one city just runs right into the next without any break in the urban form.

Anyway, leave Edmonton alone, they are rightfully stoked about having towers that are taller that any city outside Toronto (even if it's only by a measly 4m lol). It's been a long time since they had something to brag about that wasn't built in the 70's or 80s. This should be the turning point in the development of their centre city, I just hope that they get lots of smaller character buildings instead of really tall towers that only improve the small area around them.

Excavation Nearing its Final Stages at The One
Construction plans indicate that the project will reach grade in the first quarter of 2019 from which point we can all begin watching Canada’s tallest building gradually rise into the sky.

Yes and no.
Mississauga is not part of Metro Toronto while Burnaby is part of Metro Vancouver. Burnaby gets Translink service whereas the TTC is seperate from the Peel Region transit.
The distance from Yonge and Eglinton to Heartland Town Centre is roughly the same distance as downtown Vancouver to Pitt Meadows.

So when you go from Mississauga to Toronto do you go through countryside, or do you just cross a road? If so, then my point stands.

Im not sure. Months ago they were over 45 % maybe more. The lower smaller units have been selling faster but that's par for the course. Id be interested to know as well. Also i wonder who will be purchasing the penthouse units. If I win the 60 million this Friday ill be getting one.
