A big pile of dirt can be seen on the Huston site from the 1601 Congress webcam. We'll also be able to see the Alexan crane go up in June from that webcam. Considering the the slow pace of the State office building projects, we may even see the start of the Symphony Square tower before the 1601 Congress building blocks the view.

We really have a construction webcam drought going on considering all of the stuff U/C. This makes me sad.

Great pic! They're both happening! Exciting for the area. Great to get so many new housing units in this area.

Now if we can only get rid of (at least by cut and cap) that pesky outdated and city dividing I-35.

Does anyone have an update about this project? The pit should be pretty deep by now.

I drove by it the other day, and that's all it really looks like right now, is a big pit. I didn't see any vertical rise coming soon.

I especially like this one showing both projects. I shrunk it down a bit...

The first tower crane is scheduled to go up Labor Day weekend. The north side of downtownish is going to have a lot of tower cranes in the near future:

DKR - 2
1836 San Jacinto - 1
1801 Congress - 2?
1601 Congress - 1
Alexan -1
Huston - 2
Block 164 -1

Nice. I see some budding columns, so I changed the status to U/C.

Shame, The Huston was a really neat historic name for the property. Dorsey isn't bad though, could do a lot worse.

I’m glad they changed it. Always reminds me of Councilwoman Houston, and she ruined this project.

Ha! Agreed. Had the same thoughts whenever I read the name.

On a side note, a buddy of mine will be operating one of these Dorsey project tower cranes. Will get some good pics from him once he's up there. He also operated the crane on the Independent. I need to get some of his photos from that job and will post some if I can.
