Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz is rejecting calls to examine the processes that led to the city’s proposed three-for-one fire-hall land swap, stating a review of financial aspects of the deal will suffice.
Earlier this week, Katz ordered Winnipeg chief financial officer Mike Ruta and chief administrative officer Phil Sheegl to review a proposed swap of two old fire halls and a parcel of city-owned Fort Rouge land for the Taylor Avenue site of the city’s new fire-paramedic Station No. 12, a plot of land owned by Shindico Realty. Last week, both officials told reporters they were comfortable city procedures were followed....

I can happily report that not once did I vote for the sham Sam. Was there ever a more dishonest politician at city hall than Sam "me first" Katz?

On a more serious note, does anyone know if there is any vested interest in the Fort Garry Revolving restaurant? I wonder how much it would cost to jump start that project again.

Never mind, at $25,000 a month to lease that is a financial impossibility.

25 grand eh, dont see that space being filled anytime in the future, if ever......to bad, the revolving restaurant in Ottawa is awesome, panoramic views of downtown Ottawa and the parliament buildings. They even have all this little descriptions of the buildings with arrows pointing at the the specific landmarks so that when you rotate around you know what everything is.

Always thought it would be cool if someone bought it outright and turned it into a rotating residence

The spa up there sells bottled water from a tiny spring water bottler in NWO, one of my employer's competitors. It's owned by an Italian guy so we're assuming that spa is owned by Italians?

Also recently got a 5 gallon jug from Frosty Springs based in Hanna, Alberta, the home of Nickelback. All the water on the prairies is reverse-osmosis treated tap water so I am guessing you don't have any decent springs there. All the big players in Winnipeg are RO. In Alberta, spring seems to be an expensive niche product.

Judy would be even worse than Shammy, sure he only looks out for his own interests and those of his friends but socialist Judy is about as clueless as they come. Her main election platform was the need to raise taxes and that's before she even stepped into city hall. It would be to hard for her to fathom lowering costs before the need for an increase in taxes even became a necessity.

The city needs new blood at city hall in both the mayors chair and on council, someone like TrueViking or Galston would get my vote!

I am not sure if they were anticipating an epic flood or perhaps an attack of a giant sausage eating beast?
