FAA permit for the building - 369 feet.

https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external...7037940&row=12

The name of this one is definitely a head scratcher. I remember in one of the renderings they had "Red River Tower" shown over the entrance. I liked that name more as a nod to the street which is a nod to the river. Actually, a lot of our Texas rivers would make for interesting names that would roll off the tongue nicely. Rio Grande, Guadalupe, Nueces, Lavaca, etc.

Perhaps named for another body of water?

Quincy Creek?
Quincy Bog?
Quincy Loch?
Quincy Fjord?

Dunno, just spitballin' here.

Sounds like the name of one of the principals favorite dog. If so, that’s cool with me.

It seems like these apartment buildings just go off of some hipster baby name book. I wonder how many young couples will conceive a child in this Quincy and then move out to Circle C to raise their own Quincy.

I went to school in Austin with a girl named Quincy. She's about 36 years old now.

The site plan was approved and released today. The elevations have not been posted yet.

The approved and released elevations were posted online today, and there were no changes to the height. This should be in site prep any day. But maybe they'll wait until after the SXSW congestion.

Fencing is going up today, and the first digger is onsite.

Yes, in the middle of SXSW, to boot.

Great news! This building is one of my current faves. It will go a long way to close a bit of a dead space between Rainey and the heart of DT. Hopefully one or two more of these lots near Driskill and Red River will go soon.

This article says it broke ground in early March. That must have been the official suits with golden shovels event.

The American-Statesman reports that it's broken ground. We walked by the site Sunday night and peeked over the fence. They only had one earth mover and two port-a-potties on site.

Work starts on 30-story mixed-use tower in Rainey district

Port a potties are the official sign.

That means they're setting up for the long haul.

I mean, it's a done deal until the paperwork is finished.

So maybe instead of changing the title from "Demo" to "U/C," we change it to "Porta-Potties" instead?

If you want pics of the excavation happening, you'll need to be near the site between 3am-10am for the next week or so.
