Even with things shut down due to COVID-19, construction is still an "essential service" and continues to move forward.

Here are some pictures of progress around midtown:

New hotel rising next to Fox Theater

New outdoor plaza at AT&T HQ.

It's great to see Norfolk Southern above ground! The new AT&T Tower plaza looks nice as well. I hope these two projects create some more vibrancy on that stretch of West Peachtree.

Thanks for sharing, I reduced the size in the copy to make it easier to view while I’m on mobile.

Cousins Tower site on W. Peachtree

Just drove by and they have fenced off the building that used to be a law firm. Not sure how far off we are from demolition, but that's certainly a sign that things are moving forward.

That’s been fenced off for a while. I don’t think this is going to happen any time soon. Has anyone noticed if they have made any progress on 903?

Not the building where the law firm was located.

Nothing new will be coming out of the ground for 3-4 months at a minimum. Permitting is at a stand still right now. Not even to mention the millions out of work for at least the next 3 months. You can forget any ground breakings for 6 months I’m sure. It’s kind of silly to even expect any new construction at the moment to be honest, and I work in the industry and my livelihood depends on it.

Most everything that was in planning or the bidding process has been postponed over the past week that I have seen and knew. Even the projects that were supposed to be breaking ground have basically been frozen due to permitting, inspections, material supply issues and even labor questions right now.

There are supply issues beginning to arise in the gypsum and metal stud business we are seeing at my company. Lead times are growing daily right now on most everything.

Fenced in "the law firm" on 8th Street and/or the law firm on 7th Street ?

Anyone have pictures while making a Plaza Midtown Publix run -
or nearby resident, perhaps?

The law firm on 7th. I think 22 7th Street is the address.

I can take a real picture when I get home but it is this building. It was previously not fenced in.

And the fence encompasses the building over on 7th as well, just to be clear.

Good point. I didn't walk over there so I didn't realize that. It looks like they have expanded the size of the site. I wonder what this means design/Height wise. Maybe with a larger plot they can go taller if it ever actually comes to fruition.

Taking those buildings was always in the plan. I know someone that worked at the firm on 7th. Cousins bought that entire block. That firm on 7th just moved out the end of January and there wasn't a fence there a week ago as I drive by there regularly.

Construction at 1105 West Peachtree is still ongoing...but looks like a smaller crew. 903 Peachtree Demo crew is also on site getting ready to start clearing out/taking down existing structures....

None of our current projects have stopped either, but several that were in the permitting and planning phase have been placed on hold.

In Atlanta the permitting folks are not in-- I understand they are supposed to be figuring out a way to permit remotely as early as next week. Its an interesting environment out there-- some are reluctant to start new projects given the huge uncertainty in the economy-- others are enticed by the very low interest rates and an eventual return to some degree of normalcy. Most construction after all is a long game-- How will the markets be in a year or two?

I read today that Simon is suspending construction on the Phipps Plaza redevelopment. Anyone know what this is about? Hopefully just temporary. Also, is this the most recent design for the new Portman project on Spring Street in Midtown?
