Basically, the airline employees will go onsite in the new terminal get familiarized with the layout and operational setup for their respective airlines.

Ok seems like starting this training a little less than two months before opening makes sense.. seems like October 23rd is quite likely as opening...

Pretty disappointing and not nearly as progressive as I was hoping. Downtown still leaves bikers quite vulnerable according to that map.

EDIT: I was looking at the current map. New proposal looks like an enormous improvement!

I have mixed feelings about this proposal, the planners have an agenda to promote protected bike lanes, therefore I fear they were apprehensive about including any standard bike lanes because it doesn't fit their narrative.

As someone who's only source of transportation is cycling, I can personally speak on how one stripe of paint delineating a bike lane is better than nothing. I would hope that any road that is wide enough to include a typical bike lane, will, regardless of the master plan.

As the plan suggests, there should be protected bike lanes downtown, however roads like Okeefe and Rampart that are wide enough to include a standard bike lane should too.

The underground storage tanks are now in place at Easton Park & sod has been placed. Once the grass firmly takes root, the Park will reopen for New Orleans Recreation Development Commission activities & public use. Find out more www.nola.gov/resilience @resilientNOLA #graygreen

Curious to see how these perform!

Nice video find. Looks like it's about a month and a half old based on more recent images. It's going to be a beautiful facility.

Some good news in the area of rail service:
UPT Awarded a grant for platform upgrades
Quote:
Louisiana – New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal Platform and Plant Improvement Projects
Up to $3,700,854
City of New Orleans

The proposed project will complete the final design and construction activities to upgrade the station platforms and train servicing capabilities at the city-owned New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal (NOUPT). The platform modifications will bring the platforms into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), increasing platform height to provide level boarding for two Amtrak trains (Sunset Limited and City of New Orleans) and improve the step height for a third train (Crescent) that serve the station. Level boarding will improve the station’s accessibility to nearly 200,000 annual passengers boarding at NOUPT, and reduce the risk of passenger and employee injuries that currently occur at the station. Additional work will expand the rail platform canopy, update the lighting, electrical, air, and water systems that service trains at NOUPT, and these improvements will lead to increased reliability.
New Orleans-Mobile Line receives grant to cover first year's operating costs:
