Great pics by the way. The Grand Hyatt looks really nice there. I'm liking the facade. And Vidorra is really getting up there now.
In the Broadway pit pictures that is the ATT building that is on Hiderbrand.

Two Aloft Hotels comming to San Antonio in 2009 and 2011

I also went to the Starwood Hotels website and saw two San Antonio A loft hotels that they are going to build. One downtown and one in the North Side of town..

http://www.starwoodhotels.com/alofth...els/index.html

San Antonio aloft San Antonio Downtown - Opening December, 2009
San Antonio aloft San Antonio North - Opening January, 2011

Here are some other hotels rumored:

Now these are all small...but the Springhill Suites downtown looks like a 5 story building and the Aloft Hotel by Starwood looks huge. The Hyatt Summerfield downtown looks like at least a 12 story building.

I am not sure how accurate this information is but if anybody knows anything about these hotels being built please pass it along.

No no, not the AT&T Building, the taller building way in the background.

The one in the middle.

Multibillion firm production complex might go to San Antonio

http://sanantonio.bizjournals.com/sa...24/story1.html

Multibillion-dollar film production complex still a go
San Antonio Business Journal - by W. Scott Bailey

Developers had wanted to construct a massive master-planned, mixed-use project including a major film production complex near Austin.

But those efforts have hit a political roadblock, opening the door for San Antonio to vie for the Villa Muse project.

Billed as a multibillion-dollar film production hub, the planned development would include residential and park space. It would also include a huge production complex accommodating some of the largest sound stages in the world and the largest scoring stage in North America.

The developers behind Villa Muse had sought a total of some 1,900 acres of real estate located in Austin's extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ. The ETJ is the unincorporated land located within five miles of Austin's city limits, which Austin is authorized to annex and incorporate into its tax system.

If they relocate, I'd be more than happy to keep Villa here in South-Central Texas. More power to SA!

I hear ya..it would be better for this project to be in San Antonio...since San Antonio is more spreadout..but connected to the core downtown and airport..than austin...austin is more focused on downtown...you hardly hear of any grand projects outside of downtown austin...but san antonio?

Do you want me to list all of the grand mixed use development projects in the San Antonio area, along 1604, 281, IH10?

Two month ago, I was under the impression that San Antonio was not booming like Austin in construction...but I was so wrong...

San Antonio has so many projects starting are proposed it is just unreal...2 billion is going into BRAC mostly in the Ft Sam Houston are, all the freeways are being upgraded, mixed use retail space is popping up like popcorn all over 1604.

I am gonna list some of new projects in future posts...I will get pictures of construction as they are being built. These are mostly mixed-use developments with hotels in the middle....There is at least 5 projects like this in San Antonio that have already started construction.

San Antonio is also hotel central...there are not enough hotels in this city...remember san antonio is the number one destination for tourist in texas. Once the Grand Hyatt is done, (already opened on the 17th of march) more Hotels like the Grand Hyatt will be built downtown and up in the Stone Oak and IH10\1604 corridor. These are the 3 hotel hotspots....and do not forget the JW Marriott Resort and Spa......

Rumors about the new W Hotel are not really rumors...its gonna happen...and now since San Antonio got the High Rise Condo bug....it will start to get some really nice high rises once the Vidorra, Alteza, Broadway and Vistana are completed. These are all about 80 percent sold...so you know developers are looking for more sites...can you say Broadway St from Hiderbrand all to the way downtown?.....Yep

But I love Austin...I use to live there for 7 years...I love what they are doing in the downtown area....What they are doing in the Residental Highrises downtown is to me better than any other city. The only reason to live in Austin would be to live downtown....at least for me. But I keep forgetting that north san antonio is only about 65 to 70 miles south of downtown Austin..

To the two greatest cities on earth...Austin and San Antonio!!!

I just hope they put that Complex on the East or South side, the north side is already congested enough as it is.

More San Antonio Projects..IH10/1604 Area

Ok hotspot number two is the IH10/1604 Area. I have this map that shows all of the awesome projects that they are building around the IH10\1604 interchange, and then up north of that even north of the Rim on both sides of IH10. They are also increasing the lanes on IH10 past 1604...to at least 3 or 4 lanes on each side. They are also adding an overpass for the Dominion Drive and raising the overpass over Camp Bullis Rd.

http://www.texhwyman.com/i10w.htm#Construction
"Construction projects

At Dominion Dr.: Construction of an overpass for I-10 at Dominion Dr. This project was specifically requested by the City of San Antonio to improve emergency access to the Dominion. However, this is also a necessary project as there are no crossovers for over two miles from Camp Bullis Rd. to Boerne Stage Rd. This project will allow for the necessary conversion of the access roads to one-way in that area.

At Camp Bullis Rd: This project will reconstruct the I-10 overpasses at Camp Bullis, which is necessary due to clearance issues. This project will also construct turnarounds, which have become necessary due to traffic from the Rim and Oak Hills Church and will convert the access roads to one-way operation from Camp Bullis Rd. to Dominion Dr."

Retirement high-rise to be redone as high-end condos

http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantoni...10/story5.html

"A property that started its life with the goal of becoming an upscale retirement community is about to be reborn as an upscale condo development.

A developer based in Monterrey, Mexico, known as Four Oaks Tower Ltd., has purchased a nine-story building along Interstate Highway 10 and Huebner Road in Northwest San Antonio.

Four Oaks plans to redevelop the building into a high-end condo complex known as Four Oaks Tower. Currently, the building, which was never completed by the prior owner, is little more than a shell, with the interior now in the process of being finished out for potential buyers.

All told, the planned Four Oaks will consist of 47 condo units -- with No. 47 serving as a guest house for those visiting residents of the community."

Downtown is pretty busy, River North, Pearl District, SoFlo,East Town developments. I would say it's just as focused on it's downtown as Austin.

I was downtown in San Antonio and had the camera. Several U/C projects look to be coming along and the city is always beautiful in the spring. Enjoy.
