While discussion continues on Transwestern’s potential development of a six-story luxury apartment community at the northeast corner of Preston and Northwest Highway, a much larger project is underway in the same corridor, and the re-zoning application already is headed to the City Plan Commission.

At 8215 Westchester Dr., on what is now a three-story medical office building, Crosland Group plans to construct Highland House, a 24-story residential tower with around 250 units, marketed toward empty-nesters. It’s the “highest-end residential in Dallas,” says chairman and CEO Luke Crosland, who also was behind the luxury iLume in Oak Lawn.

Highland House: A New Definition of Luxury High Rise Living for a High Class Demographic

As we have mentioned, Luke Crosland, the man who developed The ilume, a mixed-use retail/residential project at Cedar Springs and Knight Street in Oak Lawn, is hoping to build an extremely high end, $100,000,000 residential apartment community into the very heart of Preston Center, south of Northwest Highway.

The first thing that impressed me about Highland House was the creativity of the luxury services. TRUE concierge service, valet, a driving range, a private dining club and one of the most unique ideas I have encountered to date in multi-family: air conditioned STORAGE space for tenants. Like, on-site!

Highland House is to be an ultra luxury condo-style apartment community. There is no plan for retail in this building. The units will range from 1250 to 4,000 square feet on 21 floors of residential. Views will be phenomenal. Crosland envisions a walkability with this property that has never happened in Preston Center, unless you lived at The Hilton or Shelton, both west of Douglas.

Investors buy Preston Center building previously eyed for high-rise apartments

A North Dallas building that until recently was eyed for a new tower block has been purchased by investors.

The new owners of the Preston Doctors Center on Westchester Avenue in Preston Center plan to continue operating the property as a medical office buildings, said Leland Burk, who heads the new ownership group.

“We are going to do some cosmetic improvements to the building and the parking structure,” Burk said. “It’s 75 percent leased and we are going to continue to operate it.”

The 3-story building, which was built in 1956, had previously been under contract for sale to developer Crosland Group that wanted to construct a 27-story residential tower on the property, which is in the heart of the Preston Center business district.

Crosland Group dropped its plans for the luxury apartment high-rise after homeowners in the area raised a fuss.

What's that separate six-story building, and is that still going to be constructed?
