Simon Fraser University | Vancouver | new green buildings photo thread

I have made an annotated photo thread profiling the new green buildings at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada.
I created the thread in the British Columbia section and I am linking to it rather than duplicating it. Please consider taking a look at it at this link.

Simon Fraser University (SFU) was designed by Arthur Erickson and the mountaintop university opened in 1965 after a blisteringly quick 18 month construction phase. It was heralded as the "instant university" and its early dabbling in the protests and radical politics of the counter-culture 60s gained it widespread notoriety. Architecturally it was a complete departure from the prevailing norms and Erickson pushed the limits of what concrete could be as a building medium. Now 42 years later construction continues unabated at the campus but concrete structural experimentation in the brutalist style has given way to an emphasis on sustainability. Super-green passive solar design, high performance green building technologies, and a commitment to honour and reflect the existing architectural vocabulary now define the school's development.
