Still waiting for that one awesome photo that covers all of downtown SA in one shot. Maybe it's from the Trinity tower, maybe I-10 northwest of downtown, maybe somewhere else. Who's got it?

Hold yer horses! I'll be in town on the 10th! In the meantime, SA forumers get out there and snap! I know a lot of you take good pics-- I've seen 'em! You guys need to put us back in the My City Photos section!! I can't come in from MT twice a year now with the price of gas these days...

These were taken from my grandfather's penthouse condo lol..... Over by the VIA depot and SAC.

And another pic of the BOA from a cool angle. All photos were taken by me of course.

Nice photos!!! G-ma has a sweet pad!!

You took these in the late afternoon/evening. Notice the color of the glass on the Grand Hyatt....? Cool greenish look. But notice the one unit that doesn't have the paper up on the window (second floor from top nearest the Tower)? Eventually, I think they will all be that much darker green/blue then.

This is my first pano, btw, luckily I had some good material to work with

As for NW DT getting more development, I read in the E-N a couple of days ago that one of the hospitals downtown (can't remember which) is planning something like $500 million worth of expansion, including a new trauma tower. I can try to find the article if anyone's interested.

EDIT: Its actually $900 million http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/met...N.2f9c3f2.html

I'll be in San Antonio next month also. Looking forward to visiting the Tower of the Americas and taking pics around downtown.

Interesting story to go along with ydoc14's picture:

When they started that project, I thought for sure they'd demolish that tiny sliver of an empty building shell between the St. Mary's school and the Holiday Inn, but they never did. When they bought the school building, they paid $2.1 million. The guy who owns that building next to it thought there was no way they'd build without his land, and held out for $7 million. As we can see, he guessed wrong. It turned out to be cheaper to go higher to make up for the lost width. So, now I guess we're stuck with that vacant sliver.

we're still counting on that sliver becoming downtown's newest 1-lane bowling alley.

Downtown is really lacking in the one lane bowling alley department

ya, i don't think we can ever consider ourselves a legitimate major city until we have more stand-alone, 1-lane, downtown bowling alleys. forget light-rail...bring on the 7-10 split.

seriously - if you had to guess, what will that space become? i am going with a Subway or Starbucks - they seem to be able to operate in really tight quarters.
