I think that design looks more like a hospital than the one they built.

Though I do like its height more.

i'm confused, that's what the needs. they are going to lease, they do not want to build so it will be a shared building, meaning it will be more than 15 floors. what am i missing?

Supposedly the above is one spot under consideration, if the following report is correct:

https://cityscenekc.com/waddell-reed...-hq-finalists/

And the other would be this thing here.

10 years ago... the Living Icon Hotel project. Just a fantasy project. I could never see that getting built. Maybe in Dubai? But not for KC.

Three Light to start construction early next year!

This sounds like it could be something interesting.

Crossroads may get a $350M mixed-use
Quote:
A developer plans a massive $350 million mixed-use project in the Crossroads Arts District, according to filings submitted to the city and the Economic Development Corp. of Kansas City.

3D Development, the group behind the $95 million repurposing of The Kansas City Star's former headquarters building, has submitted and received early approvals for a general development plan for multiple structures on about 11 acres just north of Union Station in an area called the Freighthouse District.

The planning area consists of 17 parcels and runs roughly from 20th Street to the northern edge of the railroad tracks and from Wyandotte Street to Grand Boulevard. Currently, the land is mostly dirt or gravel, parking lots and some small vacant buildings.

Location unknown. But the article says it would involve locating more than 1,000 employees.
And the winner is .... Baltimore and 14th, near the new convention hotel.

Slowly but surely, the focus of downtown KC is migrating southward.

Not a crazy idea, look at Atlanta's proposal called "The Stich". The video on the page is amazing: https://www.atlantadowntown.com/initiatives/the-stitch

it'll happen eventually. Almost all developers are pushing for it to happen to increase their property value. I haven't seen the new Waddle and Reed renderings for their new tower but someone who is working on the project said that even their rendering shows a cap over the highway. The Loews hotel's rendering showed a cap and Cordish, also, really wants it to happen. I don't know if it'll happen within the next ten years but it'll happen as downtown continues to grow.

With federal boost, developer plans $100M towers near Kansas City arts landmark
Quote:
Kansas City’s spate of downtown hotel and apartment construction could continue with a $100 million development planned in the Crossroads Arts District.

Dave Mashburn, owner of Mashburn Development LLC, said he’s planning three towers, including one hotel and two apartment buildings, across Broadway Boulevard to the west of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The development, called Allé, would replace an urgent care clinic on the site.

It’s the second major hotel project proposed near Kauffman in the last 18 months. Hotel Bravo!, proposed by Whitney Kerr Sr. and Eric Holtze, was rejected last month by the Tax-Increment Financing Commission. That recommendation is awaiting consideration by the City Council.

Here's the rendering!

It looks OK. Should fit in well with nearby Two Light and the convention hotel.

Will start construction in a few weeks.

The skyline of the south end of downtown just keeps getting better. I appreciate the architectural interest on this one in that its not just another glass box. It's actually a series of stacked glass boxes.

Does anyone know if Cordish has available land or loose plans for a Four Light residential tower, provided that the 3rd one fills up as quickly as the 2nd has?
