They wanted the imperfections. It's something I don't know if I like aesthetically either.

The terracotta is shaped like that so when you look at the complete skyscraper, there's curved shadows that stretch as they get higher. One of my favorite parts of the building

I am even more impressed with this tower. The undulations alone were very sexy, however, intentional shading on the terra cotta is really a nice touch. I will now be looking for shading on every sunlit photo! Impressive Tower.

That's not what I think they were talking about. Not the undulations - rather the inconsistency of the gap sizes between them. Shop purposefully designed in some randomness. I think they did this to echo the imperfections on old terracotta facades. But it looks like the swooping gold details also have quite a bit of attachment imperfections. Generally that's not very good quality control.

It is an unforgiving angle (it's foreshortened, your seeing a thousand vertical feet in that shot) so it's not as noticeable from farther away.

No, I saw those too. That actually happens a lot on many buildings as far as I've seen. Hopefully they can lower that basket down and somehow fix it

aren't the tiles just slotted or stacked up in there?

it sure looks bad, but i can't tell if it is indeed very bad, or kind of the way its supposed to be, with a lot of give???

Behold:

and the LED channel:

I think the intention is to create a shimmering effect up the building at night.

Ok, now I love this building way more than before. It's an engineering marvel, it has very amazing cladding and it's lighting and crown lighting will all be amazing together. Really looking forward to seeing this complete

^Mother of Gosh.

Will the entirety of the Terracotta be illuminated? Or just a portion of the building at the crown? I can't imagine they'd light the whole thing, but then again it IS SHoP and JDS....
