I guess, better a pointless conversation than a dead thread. I think your post did illustrate that rates of change are variable, and hard to predict. Even trends can deviate wildly for any number of reasons.

The San Antonio Zoo has a released a 200 million dollar Master Plan.

San Antonio Zoo officials are working toward a bold plan to expand the 104-year-old zoo beyond its quarry walls, build more naturalistic habitats, and create a safari-like experience for visitors and the animals.

The $200 million master plan will serve as a roadmap for the zoo’s next 20 years and will begin later this year following completion of the new $1 million habitat for rhinos, which broke ground in August.

New habitats, exhibits, and events in recent years have drawn more visitors than ever to the zoo. Last year, more than 1.1 million people visited the zoo, generating an economic impact of $108.6 million to the city – about half of that came from out-of-town visitor spending. A 2017 TripAdvisor list of the Top 10 most popular new experiences for global travelers included the San Antonio Zoo.

There was an interesting blurb in the Austin-American Statesman talking about IndyCar coming to Austin next year for one race, but it also says they're considering other locations, including a street course in San Antonio:

An IndyCar race in Austin appears to be edging closer to reality.

The U.S.-based open-wheel circuit, whose cars scream down straightaways at up to 230 mph, is considering Circuit of the Americas for a future race, possibly as early as next year, according to published reports.

“They have choices. They have three or four places to fill a hole for next year.”

IndyCar CEO Mark Miles told the Indianapolis Star the series is in talks with three tracks, declining to name them. COTA is widely speculated to be in that mix. There also has been some talk about a street-course race in San Antonio or Oklahoma City.

San Antonio now has a CSA (Combined Statistical Area), SA-New Braunfels combined with the Pearsall micropolitan area. Census.gov has yet to update their list of CSAs, but according to a bulletin put out on 9/14

Interesting.

So, the CSA will have just under 20,000 more people than the MSA. It's basically adding Frio County to the eight county MSA.

It's September 2018 and still no stadium plan. Elmore could take his "new" AAA team elsewhere (yes, this is a possibility).

Astros are going to affiliate with the Express and the Rangers may affiliate with Nashville due to SA not having a stadium plan - let alone a guarantee of having a team.

I hope things can get figured out soon. This has been going on for far too long.

Triple A ball will be here next season. Too big a market not to have a team. We're talking minor league people just add 5k seats to wolff stadium and everyone's happy.

Geez, "too big not to have one." Come on. That's not a solid argument. Did SA grow to become a "big market" overnight? The Mission's have been around since 1888 and yet, nobody has - until last year - even tried to bring them up from AA to AAA (at least in name).

Also, Wolff stadium has 6,500 fixed seats plus room for 3,000 more on the berm. I do not think they'll add 5,000 fixed seats (at least in the short term).

In 2016, Barrett Sports Group conducted a study for the city. They recommended 8,000-8,500 fixed seats with a total of 9,000-9,500 total capacity. That study also noted that the Missions had the lowest attendance in the Texas League from 2010/2011 to 2016.

It's been over a year since the initial announcement and we're nowhere near a stadium deal of any sort. Elmore Sports Group does not want to pay for it and the city will not either (and I don't blame them).

Look, I want this to happen. But, I'm worried if the owners and city cannot get a deal together, the team will go elsewhere. Let's remember, Elmore is a Southern California-based company. And even though they have owned the Missions for 30 years, they will go where they can get the best deal for their company.

San Antonio MSA's current dollar GDP output increased by 8% during the past year, resulting in San Antonio overtaking Sacramento as the 34th largest MSA by current dollar GDP output.

San Antonio MSA is now a hair smaller than Kansas City (#33) on a current dollar GDP basis.

The $61.8 million agreement between the City’s Housing Trust Public Facility Corporation and The RK Group and development firms NRP Group and Casey Development includes renovation and restoration of the Red Berry Mansion. Half of the housing units will be priced for families who make 80 percent or less of the area median income. As long as the housing remains mixed-income, the ad valorem taxes will be waived."

I’m not sure if you know, Brooks is a 600-acre masterplanned community on the site of the former Brooks Air Force Base on the southeast side of San Antonio.

In 2011, it was closed due to BRAC and turned into a public-private masterplanned community called Brooks City-Base. It has sin de lost the city-base portion of its name and now goes by Brooks. It has slowly transformed from an old WWI and WWII out post into a modern mixed-use masterplanned community with retail, hotel, residential, education and office. There is also a new 46-acre park called the Greenline. It has greatly transformed that area of the southeast side.

Construction seems to be never ending at Brooks. From retail to residential to new roads and parks, etc.

If you research Brooks you’ll see all the companies that have moved in and established offices there providing that area with tons of jobs. This is another big get for Brooks and San Antonio in general.

There is even more residential development planned. The Kennedy:
