I love it another 5 star hotel.

Looks like the hoteliers are betting on a 2016 bid.

All of these new proposals Chicago is getting is a little be imbarassing.

Maybe we know now why BVic gave a sly laugh in the CP thread about his talk with Carley.

This thing is just wow, I thought the days of big surprise were on hiatus for a while. This is just mind numbing. To bad this will not have a direct river site.

There's nothing to be embarrassed about (even if you weren't necessarily serious bnk) - it's high time developers, buyers, visitors etc., realize how important and sophisticated Chicago is and I think a proposal like this helps further cement that reputation worldwide - embarrasement of riches perhaps but this city needs to stop being so meek relative to the coasts, and start to really shine on it's own

Looks to me like it might be near the NBC Tower.

Perhaps they're planning to build it in that parking lot just north of the Sheraton?

OH HOLY SHIT!

Wow Chicago, you really are the greatest city in the world.

You know, this design looks almost Foster-esque... I doubt it is a Foster, but just saying its got that geometric - glass shard feel to it... this could be 1200+ if there is a lot of space in that pinnacle on top. If this is built Chicago will have a cluster rivaling Dubai in height and far exceeding it in style...

That's where it would be, that's where the rumored supertall Carley proposal was supposed to be.

Also, this will not be competing with the Spire. It is in a completely different price range. If anything this will just screw Trump over more! The article says the condo's here should go for about $800 a sq ft. That's compared to $2000 at the spire. Man I want to own a condo in this neighborhood, land values will be going up up up!

I'd tend to disagree.

I suspect most potential buyers at the Spire will take a look at the Trump, Waterview, and Waldorf before making their final decision.

And many of them have to wonder if the name "Calatrava" is worth a $500 to $1000/sqft premium.

Like most of you, I find this to be a complete stunner.

It does concern me that they are counting on most of their revenue from condo sales. Their is so much construction going on in Chicago, I gotta think that market is just about tapped out.

that exact same sentiment has been expressed by people for going on 7 years now. i'm not saying that the boom will never end, just that this building boom has been surprising the "experts" for nearly a decade now. something abnormal is taking place in chicago. let's hope the weirdness never ends.

500M seems a bit low doesn't it? Love the design, or at least what we can see of it. Can't wait for more details.
