Did they decide anything about public camping?

On public sidewalks, no camping. Sitting and lying are permitted when over 15' from a storefront.

I don't think everyone knows that you can watch CC, HLC, Design Commission, PC, etc. meetings live online as well as taped videos of completed meetings.

Passed City Council on last reading tonight. It was a tough and emotional case for everyone involved. Following this on Facebook on ATXurbanists and it's clear that this is not the typical NIMBY v. YIMBY fight we're all used to. Hopefully we get a new land development code soon that will alleviate the need for so many zoning cases for increased entitlements.

It's amazing that when there is a good proposition to help the homeless there is pushback. There should be more development companies coming out to help.

We will see how reinstating some of the camping ban actually changes much because even before all of this came into effect, there were homeless sleeping in doorways and other areas along sidewalks DT and there were homeless coming up asking people for money or food outside of Royal Blue Grocery on 3rd. In my area there was already a large homeless camp at the intersection of Manchaca and Ben White under and around the overpass of 290/71. That won't change and I doubt we will see police do much to enforce the ban because I didn't see much if any enforcement before.

Just joined the ATXurbanists group. Some of those people really know their topic. I think I'll be lurking a while before joining that conversation. Thanks for providing the link.

Been a member for years.

By the way, I have a dinner planned with District 1 city council member Natasha Harper-Madison in a week and a half or so. Thanks in part to this group. Some great people in there.

I think there was enforcement before it was just not the "we are taking you to jail" type, which is why I ignore the hysterics from the extremists on the council. From an article on the downtown before the change in ordinance:

"officers interacted with more than 8,000 people violating the solicitation, camping, and sit-lie ordinances. Of those interactions, 98% of the time, people voluntarily complied with officers’ requests to change their behavior — so no citation was issued."

A site plan for a "preliminary plan" was filed a week ago, and it's currently "CC Pending". After it goes into "Review" we should get a good idea of what Phase I will be and maybe a time frame. This project has so much potential, but details so far are mostly vague and only visionary.

The "preliminary plan" went into review this week. It covers 69 acres of this project. I was hoping specific building/uses info would be available as is usually the case when something goes into the Review phase. But not this time. All we got was talk about flood threats, easements...yawn...zzzzzz

An update from the Statesman. It got bigger - now 109 acres - and has a name change.

This would be such a game changer. I love it. Also, that parking garage on Riverside puts Domain Tower 3's to shame.

Jawdropping to see it laid out like that.

Legitimately another Domain.
