Some new UC Broadway renderings up on the Urban Capital facebook page. (I don't do facebook and I'm not sure about the rules or even how to properly link to them... although I'm sure UC wouldn't mind spreading them around).

The condo entrance is shown on 12th St.

Looks fantastic IMHO.

I like the back side even more than the streetfront side.

I agree, and which (to me) reflects a higher standard of design than I think we’re used to in Saskatoon. It’s in keeping with UC’s high standards for RL, and like was previously mentioned, I also like they didn’t make it a carbon copy.

I’m not too concerned with the slab effect of the wide side of the building. Given it’s fenestrated quite well (as opposed to the Arts Building or other comparable towers), I think the effect will be overall quite light. The inset balconies are a great design idea both to make them more protected and more user-friendly given our climate as well as to articulate the facade of the wide sides of the building.

The backside does a good job of pulling focus from what could otherwise just be utilitarian space. The garage doors are fairly discreet, and the back foyer entrance looks as if it takes up as much horizontal space as those. If they use greystone as their cladding, it will tie in well with the area. But my favourite feature is the colonnaded effect of the tower supports. It’s clean and adds some beauty to what are otherwise purely structural elements.

I’m a big fan.

FYI, nothing major whatsoever but Baydo has updated their rendering slightly for their Broadway project; it looks a bit better than the previous one.

I'm not sure how to copy an image. Here's the link: http://baydo.ca/maincontent/our_proj..._saskatoon.php

Very similar to the last but with a marginal improvement.

It would appear that the second floor is office space, but I do not see any active/retail uses on the street level.

It looks as if there is a restaurant or bar shown in the middle of the ground floor in the rendering. The article mentioned the first two floors are proposed commercial space, but I guess we’ll probably have to wait to see floor plans to see what sort of commercial space it is. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t a spot for a restaurant.

We'll see with the floor plans, but the way that I'm reading the renderings is that the condo entrance/lobby will be off the rear lane, with the Broadway side available for commercial tenants.

UC Condo

I love the UC design! Having recently moved back from London, UK, this fits right in with what is being built in Europe's cities at the moment.

I can't help but notice the tiny pit of anticipation in my stomach, though. I hope those inevitable NIMBY's can be overruled and that city council remembers that a development like this can add an immense positive change to our core.

I like that the RL condo has obviously proven to boost confidence in developers who were pondering condos.

I love it. Let it rise, and bring on more proposals just like it! Spadina and 21st, for example!

Did anyone else notice the couple making out in the 5th floor window on render. They are trying to appeal to the exhibitionist market, I suppose.
