Does anyone know if this will be one of the national chain storage brands? If so, which brand? Or is it a one-off by the developer?

Not sure, but the picture they used is of a CubeSmart Self Storage.

Thank you. If it turns out to be CubeSmart they look to have a great service, could be a real good change for self-storage.

I agree. I looked into them a few months back, and was impressed with their micro office space concept...rent a small office and some storage space. It’s a great for a community like ours with so many independent businesses / entrepreneurs.

There is heavy equipment digging in that location right now. Not sure if it is roadway prep or the actual building.

There is another storage place being constructed at the moment on Sherwood Road across from the VW dealer.

They already have a location on Thompson Dr. This will be a second location.

Another 32 unit affordable housing building starting construction this month. This will be built next to the 60 unit apartment that is also being constructed off Acadian Drive in East Royalty.

Another three floor fire trap for seniors. Three floors seems to be the norm just so developers can avoid the extra costs for a sprinkler system. The city should put their foot down and finally say enough to these kind of developments especially after the Harley Street fire as they were very lucky no loss of life happened there. Personally I'd avoid one of these apartments without sprinklers. You'd just have to look at the fire in Quebec over a year ago as an example.

Straford Updates

It's been a month since I've been over to Stratford and it always amazes me the amount of development that is going on. The new roundabout on the TCH is open, quadplexes being built on the Stratford Rd, the new affordable apartment building, the new Pan american apartments, new shoppers, new apartment buildings, single homes and even new subdivisions, etc, etc......
A lot going on here. No sign of it slowing down.

60 rental units for 'every budget' planned for Guardian building

Two new floors to be added

Sixty new student residence units are planned for the building that houses the Guardian newspaper in Charlottetown.

The building at 165 Prince St. was sold earlier this year to a commercial property developer.

The newspaper office will be on the second floor. But the plans are to add two new floors for a student residence that will be called Prince Hall, said Issmat Al-Akhali of Blacksheep Project Management Inc., the company involved with the residence project.

"Our plan is to do 60 rooms of varying sizes and amenities so there's something to fit every budget," he said.

"We are primarily focusing on students and also open to let professionals or people looking for short-term rentals to have access. We'll separate them from students.

UPEI Student Union takes housing issue to provincial government
Hoping to be complete by fall of 2020
Al-Akhali said they are still waiting for the final approval to go through city hall, but hopes to have the construction completed and students moved in by the fall of 2020.

The plans for the lower floor include the lobby for the residence and retail space.

The only section of highway in the province designated a limited access road is part of the Charlottetown Perimeter Highway, between St. Peters Road and Grafton Street. Maximum speed limit on arterial highways is typically 90 km/h (56 mph).
Speed Limits
Reasonable and proper within maximum limits: open highway, 80 km/h unless otherwise posted to a maximum of 90 km/h; residential 50 km/h; business districts 60 km/h; school zones, curves and intersections, as posted.

Urban Indigenous Centre

The steel is going up and construction is moving along. I hope it looks better
when it's completed than what the rendering shows.

Island businessman says Stratford, P.E.I., needs more police

Stratford's growing population is expected to be close to 15,000 in a few years and that growth is one reason why policing should be looked at......

Murphy would like to see a capital region police force to serve Charlottetown, Stratford and Cornwall.

CubeSmart Self Storage

The land is prepped and will soon see construction start.

Note the shape of the prepped area is the same as seen in the diagram.
