Very nice aerials and fantastic new update, thanks! Hard to believe that used to be a vacant dirt pile, now that it is really taking shape.

It's quite amazing seeing four cranes at four towers all in a line down Ellis. This has got to be the most dramatic change to Kelowna's built form in a generation.

Not the most terribly exciting photo but Brooklyn is making some headway. Looks like the foundation will be poured fairly soon, perhaps by the end of the week. And then it will start to soar!

Thanks TwinDragon! I'd love to be involved if there are any tutorials on how to create building diagrams...

On the diagram page there are links that explain the process. Personally for me I try and find the building applications because they have good elevation drawings to trace. I then bring that image into photoshop create a new layer and trace over the parts of the building. I usually start with the repeating areas and once that’s done I just duplicate them to get the full building. I keep the drawing pretty simple, flat colours with no shadows. You wouldn’t be able to see those details on such a small drawing anyways. I do however add a bit of cloud reflection in the windows but try not to go overboard.

I’m working on Ella right now.

So I was back in BC for just over week and was able to spend 1 night in Kelowna.

Here are a few pics I took while there:

First construction.

Ella, looking good!

Ellis Parc and One Water Street rising. (question, are both Water Street towers U/C?)

Kelowna Growing by Ian, on Flickr

A shot from a distance

A couple skyline shots from the car on my way out

Kelowna Skyline by Ian, on Flickr

And just some random shots of summer in Kelowna. I sure am envious of those who get to spend then entire season there

Shade and Sun, Kelowna by Ian, on Flickr

Okanagan Summer Beach by Ian, on Flickr

Kelowna Bridge by Ian, on Flickr

One random thought:

A lot of the urban canopy in Kelowna looks good, lots of warm looking deciduous trees and the wonderful native Ponderosa Pines and Douglas Firs. They all add to the summer feel. What annoys me though are people who plant such varieties as Blue Spruce in the Okanagan... Why would you do that?? It is such a cold boreal forest looking tree. It is suitable in cities that are more limited in the variety of trees that can grow, but are unnecessary in Kelowna and completely clash with the look and feel of the Okanagan.
