A short video of a drive through part of the Fall Creek neighborhood:

Of course the roads are awful, but that's life in Ithaca.

End of an era. I'm sad to report a place deep in my youthful memory is no more. Though I was only 17 (and the drinking age at the time was 18) I recall being with a large group of friends as we drank mass quantities of brew at the Chapter House. The Chappy was only 1/2 block from my apartment building. After leaving the bar there was a heated discussion with a nearby printing office of Cornell's chapter of SDS. Ahhhh, fun times.
Since that initial night I had tried to visit whenever I returned to Ithaca.
All that to say last night the Chapter House and a nearby apartment building burned out:

Though I quit drinking years ago, here's a toast to an old favorite.

A short video of the 1st dam on Six Mile Creek. There's an old mill building built along the cliff. The dam is about 3/4 of a mile upstream from downtown Ithaca.

Video Link

There's actually a Facebook page for the place (though not a lot of posts, there are pics):

https://www.facebook.com/pages/1st-D...46124608732757

Another mile up the creek is the second dam where folks jump off the cliffs (some 50 to 60 feet high),crazy kids:

Maybe all the complaints from Cornell students about how expensive it is to live in Collegetown might be unfair to local landlords. Article from the Ithaca Journal:

They say there's 20,000 parade participants and the other 10,000 are watching the parade.
