That's actually really weird because a few nights ago I was wondering what would happen if they attempted to make a little China town.

Plans for a Little Italy in/near downtown.
When I read this quickly, I thought Maggianos was opening up a restaurant DT.

Yeah, kinda random.....

Edit:
BTW, I took this photo this morning. O'Krent's (the building) is almost completely history.

Pretty much, given that most Little Italys or Chinas or whatevers develop organically, with no one really announcing "ok, we're gonna have a Little _____ now!"

Then again, I've never lived in a city with a Little Italy, so maybe I'm wrong. But aren't we missing out on a bigger chance here? We could just call the whole south and west sides "Little Mexico" and call it a day.

Actually, the only reference I've ever heard to that has been the Stone Oak area; I've heard people call it Little Monterrey.

But back to the Little Italy thing... I'm interested in seeing the rendering but I've got plans on the 10th. Anyone else feel like spaghetti next Sunday? I'm all for more residential, as long as it's built right.

That is near Zinc. The corner space (across from Hotel Contessa) is currently empty.

It seems like this was proposed some time ago. Is this still alive and going to happen or are these just some old plans?

I like how they put it.

The Tower Life episode was shown tonight. I'm sure they'll keep showing it for a while; they aired it a few times tonight. Pretty good views from up top.

Those 2 renderings are being pre-leased online @ loopnet. Your right the restaurant is just a sample I believe. Maybe we will see something soon?

That restaurant would be a great addition to Downtown! Let's hope it gets built!

If anyone goes, I hope you can bring back some pictures. I was planning on checking it out, but, due to last night, I'm not so sure.

So they want to do it behind the church? Stop me if I'm wrong, but isn't I-10 behind the church?

Looks like there is some room for it there. There seems to be a little bit of an open field behind the church looking from satellite view and San Saba street view, so it'll probably go there.

Do they wanna do a river walk type thing with San Pedro creek? Because that's what that open land is I think?
