I just saw this; all I can say is that this is a great move for both, especially the city and most importantly, DT. The truth is that the Friedrichs location was bad for any real redevelopment to happen with it not only being on the eastside, but also being right up against the cemeteries.
I won't quite call it a complete win yet, depending on what the city does with the land, but it could work out well. While I still think that HEB has something up its sleeve with the old Ricos HQ's building (which is empty now,) I don't see who else the city would be talking to about having a grocery store there. Even if a grocery store isn't going in that location, it's still great to open up that land to development and get SAISD out of there. Wasn't this part of
