There we go...it's a no brainer of things to come short of financing pulling out. Thanks to Summersm, we have the inside scoop.

Good to hear. That fencing with the green screen blocking off the vacant lot isn't attractive.

This is SPECTACULAR news! Thank you for making my day with this news! I think I may just go to my 9:30 Business Statistics class because I'm not tired anymore, but rather SUPER excited!

Awesome news. I re-read the original article and there will be 1 level of underground parking, so site prep should take a while, but not to the extent that is happening over at 15th and Chestnut. I hope to see a core rising by next summer. I imagine both towers will rise together. The W/Element has the head start by far, but has had to deal with lots of underground surprises; it will also have all of its parking underground, but not sure how many levels. W/Element will likely be ahead, but probably not by much.

It will be exciting to see both of these towers rise. We don't get too many south of Market that rise this tall (and not too many in general that break the 500 foot mark) - and now we will have two.

Stated before, but nearly 600 footer here... awesome.

Upper right hand corner - in the future, will be very impressive walking down Pine St (for instance):

Sorry to dig this up but Starwood's sale doesn't effect this correct? Starwood's just provided hotel management to the SLS hotels?

Starwood has nothing to do with SLS. SLS is owned by SBE. I think you're confusing this with W/Element, which is owned/operated by Starwood.

You are right. I was confusing the two. Last week, The SLS Las Vegas announced it was turning one of it's towers into a W Hotel. That confused me. It appears that was just a single deal.

Someone in my office told me there is equipment on site. Is this true? Can someone verify? Getting overly excited

Negative, Ghostrider. Walked by the site around 2:45 today and unfortunately, there was not a single piece of equipment there.

No. They said work would start in 2016 but I was hoping site prep would start in December. I'm getting impatient

Probably similar to the disappointment I felt when I saw there was new activity this morning only to learn it was just about your disappointment.

Please add a thread for posts expressing disappointment about being misled to believe there might be progress by the occurrence of a meaningless post.

I too was disappointed by the posting of non-progress related disheartening posts. I feel betrayed and lied to.

Move over W/Element! This beauty is going to take over the "will this thing ever be built?" title.

I think out of all the genuine proposals out there in the city, this one is the most tenuous. Dranoff gets stuff done but there has been no movement, only endless delays. Also, this one is dependent on external players (SLS Hotel Group) which adds complexity and makes me nervous. But I'm not ready to write this one off.

Anything in this city over 500 feet is going to get noticed, but at this location? It would be really something else.
