This is the second version of this project. Groundbreaking set for 09.

Here is the first design.
Which is better?

Looks like they have a bigger footprint in the new version.

Looks pretty good but I hope that's not a blank brown concrete wall.

^^^ I have to agree. In the illustration It hints at having windows on the bottom floors, then , it transitions to solid as it reaches the top. Also, on the site is another tower the one backing this new proposal, It will need to be re clad I think, to better blend the whole project. It is a highly dated building that houses a parking garage and some offices.

Its awesome, I love what they did with the riverfront portion, I definitely like the new one better. Is this supposed to be taller than the Legacy?

No The Official floor count on the Legacy is 39 floors. And The height is around 125(Edit) meters according to the diagram section on this website.I think some more floors on this one would help out. it seems to just get interesting then the top get gets cut right off.

The tower next to the old harrahs parking structure(old Waterfront Tower) seems diminished also. I think the developer needs to be sensitive to the tower and should integrate it into the whole complex

I think Reno is about to completely reinvent its skyline. The thing that is holding this town back is the housing market. When the US housing economy becomes strong is the time to expect things to materialize for Reno. This town has seen
thru the busts then grows unexpectedly, This time I hope for the best projects possible.

With the state of things in Reno right now, I would be SHOCKED to see anything happen in the next 5 years. Yes, the Peppermill did its thing, but I just cannot see something major happening until things pick up.

But I would LOVE to be wrong. If Waterfront and Wingfield are built, Reno will have a pretty killer skyline.

View from my house:

Ah, you're over here! ...AND you still would also like this view, right?

You said you wanted a million to get this? You have casinos nearby, right? Just kidding. Anyway, Waterfront District looks like an exciting project for Reno, plus you may actually see it rise from your house someday! The redesign seems a little more conservative than the first, but it looks more suitable and better. So you don't think this will begin construction in 2009, and rather more after 2013 instead? If they wait that long, there might be another redesign.

Hello Ken I Live in the North Valleys and only dream that view. It takes me 15 to see any part of the greater Reno area. Reno really has zero bragging rights when it comes to Architecture. I am hoping you are wrong about this project breaking ground!
It would finally give Reno a tower to talk about.

They also have a new non-casino Hyatt planned next to this tower.
