SOPA square is officially under-construction now. they're only just tearing down the buildings now, but hopefully we'll see lots of progress this summer.

Sorry, not a construction update but I did get a couple pics in town today:

Lucaya site is starting to look really gross.

I checked out a unit on the 17th floor of Skye which looked out over the Lucaya site - it looks way worse than at street level. I feel bad for the people living in Skye who have to overlook that mess.

For those that care, the CD21 zone was conclusively shot down last week.

What's up with "24" right now?? Anyone know? I haven't heard any new news about it for months and months. Is the showroom even there still on bernard? If it is, I'm going to go talk to someone there. This project is awesome! It would be so sad if it didn't happen.

I would love to see 24 and Lucaya get off the ground this summer, and seeing how much land is being gobbled up in the local hillsides in Kelowna, due to single detached homes, one would think these towers would be constructed soon. Kelowna has a nice downtown, and adding such towers will only make it better!

My brother would also like to see these towers begin since he is indeed an elevator mechanic in Kelowna!

^ Can they even just start on Lucaya again? It looks like all rusted rebar and crumbling concrete. More like ruins than a construction site...

They closed a few stores at that end and I would assume a big sized expansion will be needed.

Just spent a week in Kelowna. There is a lot of construction going on, but it's ALL lowrise. SOPA looks like it's the only one project UC that'll break 6 floors.

I'm thinking it's toast - the website has been down for a few weeks.

That's a monumental shame if it is. It could very well have been the kick start that Bernard St. needed.

^ Agree. Sharon Shepherd and the rest of the council seem terribly regressive. Down here we have a fantastic progressive council, but no one to buy into the multi-tower projects they have approved...sigh...
