With these two projects plus the Vitre apartments, the western side of downtown is getting a good face life and shot of energy.
How tall is this new office center for healthcare going to be??

Anyone know what's going up near East Commerce and Hackberry? There appears to be a three story steel frame structure under construction.

Is there plans still for any hotel going on top of the Joske Building? Or those plans completely dead?

They're not dead at all. The "original" building is very unlikely but a hotel or structure on top of the Joske's building is not dead.

Believe me, there will not be a hotel tower or any tower on top of the Joske's building.

Shame, indeed, if there is no tower.

Can the lot (garage & gravel portions) on the opposite corner of Joske's in the Rivercenter parcel (which has been spoken of as a hotel/development possibility in the past) handle height? Is it not in the Alamo viewing corridor?

Imagine we'd see that lot developed before Joske's at any rate...

(and GoldenBoot - if you can find someone to take your bet...I want in on it - easy money. )

Lots of Projects Underway

Stop with the "doom and gloom" attitude guys. There are plenty of SA projects underway and some in the foreseeable future. I haven't seen this much of project activity in a long time! It's exciting to hear announcements of projects and watching them go up! Even though they are sometimes something we don't want.

I disagree. All evidence is there to prove otherwise but we'll jut agree to disagree at the moment.

That's fine. Hopefully the current plans will be made public soon.

No.
What are the current plans, outside of the retail announced and speculated on or the joske's building. You seem to be privy to inside information on this project.

I was pretty sure I had seen as well that the foundation of the structure being built was being built in order to handle the load of a something like 14 additional stories.

IDEA School. They partnered up with the Carver Academy and they're building a new school near the campus.
