Cool view from the tower. I have to say, I'll miss the view of the Marriott though.

Can anyone grab some night shots of the Grand Hyatt? I'm wondering if it is illuminated nicely.

Was home for the parades-- wow. I am impressed by the Drury and the Grand Hyatt.

I was freaked out by the weather beacon and its oscillating rain/storm indicator

How was the weather during your visit?

It seemed to be overcast all Fiesta week then cleared up Saturday, was cloudy/rainy Sunday and Monday was perfect (sunny, no clouds, very low humidity, 77 degrees) as will today.

great pic showing the density that a skinny little 18 story hotel can add. subtle but very nice.

Nice one. I'd say the Marriott is a little more than halfway up now. The Vistana will really make a nice impact in that view.

The first two pictures even now, but especially when Vistana is done, are gonna be some serious density.

I was noticing something else last night, in the matter of height dispute in the MarriottRC. The top of the antennae of the ToL reaches over the spires of the Marriott, shouldn't they be taller. Plus, from eye view, the Weston and the Marriott are the same height, but!, I was much further away from the Weston than the Marriott. You can see it in these panos...

The antenna on Tower Life would be about the same height of the spires on the Marriott IF the Marriott was really 546'. But it's not, so...

I've estimated the Marriott to be 444' to the spires, which is what the Weston Centre is. However, I've got this hunch that the Marriott's 441' roof figure is really the spires. The Marriott is either tied w/ the Weston for #1 or the Weston is #1.

As for the Grand Hyatt, I've estimated the penthouse to be 9' taller than the pyramids on the Marriott. You can see that in those panos too.

Not exactly. The height that I've heard for Tower Life Building's antenna is 558 feet. The height for the Marriott Rivercenter's spires we've heard is 546 feet. How big of a difference was it? 12 feet of height difference when you're talking about skyscrapers is peanuts. It's really not that much height difference, barely visible to the naked eye, unless two buildings are very near each other.

Something that struck me with that pic taken from Fred Rd is that the top of the "table" on the Weston Center comes to just below the bottom of the ToA's "house". If the roof of the ToA is 622ft, then the bottom of the house cant be any lower than about 575-550ft, right? What if its actually the WC that's being listed as a different height than it actually is??

The "top house" on the Tower of the Americas, this is the structure at the top of course, is 76 feet tall. I got that height and all the others for the tower in a booklet that I bought in the lobby a few years back. So if the roof of the Tower of the Americas is 622 feet, then the bottom of the top house would be 546 feet.

The Tower of the Americas heights according to that booklet are:

750 feet feet to the antenna.
650 feet to the roof.
605 feet to the top of the concrete shaft (hidden inside the top house).
579 feet to the observation deck.
560 feet to the restaurant level.

As for different heights for the Weston Centre, I've heard it is as tall as 472 feet tall. That height as well as the antenna height on the Tower Life Building came from the FAA's antenna registration search site.

You can find that here:
http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrS...tionSearch.jsp

Use the advanced search form since it gives you more options.

It's because Tower of the Americas is further back in the picture so it appears shorter than it really is.
