I know what you're saying in losing the morning service as it's timed pretty good to get into Vancouver and have a full day there before taking the late night flight home. But again, just a reduction in frequency, not seats.
It also makes it harder to make good connections onto the mid-day bank of Flight to Japan, China and Korea. When I lived in Saskatoon I would us that morning flight to do Asia connections. I also see quite a number of people doing that same.

It is now back to being Saskatoon-Calgary-Vancouver-Asia.

Agree. Its also about timely flights in order to make connections to other destinations.

Maintaining or increasing capacity doesn't matter much if the flights times don't correspond to having reasonable connection times to the ultimate destination.

Things are really taking shape at Regina's airport! If you guys are bored this weekend, take a [slow] drive around there.

Since WestJet will have service between Winnipeg and Frankfurt, would that enhance or hinder similar service to Regina/Saskatoon? Baby steps first, I guess.

We can't even hang on to RJ flights to DEN and ORD. Forget about widebodies to Europe any time soon.

Don't feel too bad about that. Winnipeg and even Edmonton are having the same trouble.

Winnipeg and Edmonton aren't having trouble filling any planes. It hasn't stopped United from cutting service.

The real reason as to why United cut off service to Regina and Saskatoon is due-to-the-fact that United wanted to utilize their aircraft on domestic routes on shorter flight legs. The ORD--YQR/YXE legs were among the longest in North America. They wanted to use their aircraft for shorter legs, which equals higher revenues/day. The load factors out of YQR and YXE were still high though.

Edmonton's International passenger count has dropped significantly this last year.

^A minor correction but it also depends on whether you lump in transborder with international. YEG's transborder numbers are down significantly but flights to Europe and anywhere else except transborder are up.

According to Flightaware.com, it came in from Iceland, and will be heading to Orlando Florida. So some rich guy from Saskatoon is probably taking his family on a trip to DW!

Where was it before Iceland? Iceland sounds like a refueling stop.

Before RKV, it came from Nice, France and before that Moscow. Moscow is home to a lot of billionaires and Nice is home to a lot of their super yachts. How YXE fits into that is the mystery.

Thinking in terms of global corporations - PCS and Cameco come to mind. With it coming from Russia, most likely a potash connection. The Florida leg could be DW or it could be a phosphate interest. Speculation, but interesting all the same.

The plane is owned by a charter company. It may not having anything to do with where it was before Iceland. Charters are flying all over the place all of the time, so I wouldn't read too much into this.

Exactly. There has been a whole pile of larger private/corporate/charter aircraft in/out of Regina this year --- whereas in past years, such aircraft haven't frequented YQR nearly as often.

Sweet. It looks like this is charter company:

This is not your average business jet. Nice looking aircraft. How the "1%" live. Nice interior looks like it would make for a nice crossing.
