For once a hotel, where no matter which room you get, you get a good view.

As I mentioned before ... I like the "Art Deco" vibe it has going. It seems to reference Suburban Station and the Art Institute of Philadelphia on Walnut Street.

A sleeker and more interesting building than the Salesforce Tower or the one going up in downtown LA. However, we gotta admit NYC's Hudson Yards project is much edgier and more impressive that this.

As the building comes nearer to completion, it's growing on me. I'm liking it a lot more than I thought it would. But I don't think it's at all "Art Deco" or gives off that vibe...

Agreed, Hudson Yards is edgier, literally its got some crazy angles and slopes to their buildings. TBH, I kinda don't like them.

Not to start a debate over which architectural styles are better, but in my opinion Hudson Yards looks too... chaotic, I suppose would be the word. It doesn't really blend with the rest of NYC's skyline; the styles of the Hudson Yards towers are far too different than their neighbors and it just sticks out like a sore thumb to me. CITC looks more stately and elegant, and it blends quite well with the existing skyline.

I have posted about this before, but this idea of buildings "referencing" other buildings is a post-modern habit we should do away with. It's like the kid who is unsure of himself and dressing in the same clothes the kid he admires does in a pathetic attempt to be cool by association. Buildings should be what they need to be in themselves and not be concerned with "referencing" or "paying homage to" other buildings. That doesn't mean that architects have to reinvent the wheel with every building - if a building needs to incorporate the same solution as some other building then do it - just don't do it to "reference" that building, do it as a genuine solution to the problem.
That said, I don't think the CTC is guilty of this. I wouldn't say it was a unique building, but I don't think it references any other building in particular.

No denying that the lantern isn't similar to or reminiscent of the old WCAU Building that Philamigo is referencing. The Now Art Institute on Chestnut

When comparing it to Comcast Center-it certainly lacks the height from many angles visually, but it makes up for it in the width and bulkiness of the building. CTC certainly stands out from many angles in its own right.

wanted to add that unless you're on the ends you can't even see the hotel portion (street level looking up), from the sides it looks like a really fat building that's not all that tall. Get out on the ends where you can see the hotel & it's appreciably higher, really can't wait to see the top of the lantern & hoping that it has some decent diameter rather than looking like a needle from the street
