Forgot to add this bad boy, Milwaukee's pride and joy, its City Hall. Tallest skyscraper in the world when it was built, until the Park Row building was built a few years later:

These are conservatories for Singapore's Gardens by the Bay development by Grant Associates.

“Cool Moist” and “Cool Dry” Conservatories: Cool Humid Tropic Biome -
“Mountain of Dreams”; Cool Dry Biome – “Terraces of Discovery”. These two
major glasshouses are located on the bay edge, with spectacular views
across the harbour to the city on the far shore, and to the garden at Marina
East.

Can we get webcams on a few of those. I'd like to watch when they take off for Alpha Centauri.

As an overall trend, I like how modernism is embracing ornament... it may have some sort of rationale behind it, of course, and it's definitely not acanthus leaves or gargoyles, but it adds visual interest. Modernism has come a long way from Mies.
I totally agree with you, Modernism past Mies Van Der Hoe's Shit has come a long way. Mies' buildings take the joy out of sex, i literally can't get it up when I think of his stench on the landscape of America.

No one should have allowed that to happen to such a handsome memorial. What they added took nearly everything away that it had going for it. That's too bad. Sorry to see this happen.

Really? I mean, really? Personally I find Mies' work to be some of the most harmonious and peaceful architecture anywhere.

Goodbye Norma Mies, you're a rotting piece of metal eating dust..

These newer [not buildings] works of Art, these Masterpieces have gained my total admiration and astonishment. So Long Ugly Black Boxes of straight lines and Simpler is Better-I hope your metal and glass rots in Hell. Today's Architects and their work fascinate me. These are Breathtaking pictures and renderings. Thank You for sharing.

I don't know what other people think of it, but I really like the Salem Oregon Conference Center:

IMO, it was just the right boost downtown needed, because following its completion, there are numerous downtown condo projects underway.

You're really being rough on Mies. I, like CGII, find his building quite harmonious and beautiful. He had a real eye and penchant for detail, buildings all look fleshed-out and well thought out.

But I have to partially agree with you here, but with a different view on it. My problem is not with Mies' work, but with the successor architects who wanted to create box buildings as well. But their buildings all look half-assed and generic, without a glint of soul. Walk up to the Seagram Building, and then walk up to those Modernist boxes that dot Sixth Avenue in NYC. Notice the difference in their designs.

That's my opinion anyway.

This building is the Shanghai Nature Museum, being done by Perkins + Will.
