guys... the list should be 7... as in 'the 7 wonders of the world'.

and it's kind of a joke; it's really just a list of the 7 favorite things that make you love some place.

Well, it is a "wonder". Wonder if you like it, wonder if you don't! You have to admit its vast improvement over what was there before.

Here are my 7 wonders of Vancouver (in no particular order)...

1)Granville Island

(globalairphotos.com)

2)Seawall

3)Science World

4)Stanley Park

(trekearth.com)

5)Skytrain

(by SqueakyMarmot @ flickr.com)

6)BC Place (world's largest air-supported domed stadium)

(by World Wide Murman @ flickr.com)

7)Canada Place

(All photos by me unless otherwise noted)

There are a number of other ones that I think deserve a spot on the list (like the Marine Building) but I had to cut it off somewhere and I didn't happen to have any worthy pictures lying around of some of the other good ones.

For the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) it would have to be

1. The Mall of America

2. The Guthrie Theater

3. The Metrodome

4. The Mississippi River

5.The Minnesota State Capitol Building

6.The Minnesota State Fair

7.Downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis

Just about everyone in the city likes Millennium Park except you, its the entire reason why people actually venture south of the river again. People from all over Chicago come downtown just to chill at Millennium Park, its completely revitalized this part of the city and you have to admit that. If you really want to list the wonders, you have to take into account what the majority of people find wondrous, not just what you think is architecturally good or bad. You can't deny that people like Millennium Park seeing as how the place is always completely packed...

Public art always has, and always will, stir emotional responses, negative and positive. It doesn't surprise me that some find fault in Millenium Park, but it certinaly been in the forefront of Chicago's public image over the past decade. I just wish they would have covered up the whole dam railroad eyesore!
