The building next to Ye Olde Pig Stand. It's the same image they had last year, but I guess it's meaningful that they just posted it on their instagram page.

In today's www.bizjorunals.com/sanantonio, they are announcing an 8 to 9 story boutique hotel downtown by the Essex development developer. Going to the HRDC in a couple of weeks....
If, I'm not mistaken, I believe this is where the Saint Hotel was proposed. Well, at least it went a couple of stories higher!!

It does mention in the article that it is at the same location where the Saint Hotel was going to go.

"Harris Bay bought the land from Key West, Florida-based Seaside Hospitality Corp., which in 2017 announced plans to build a seven-story, 100-unit Saint Hotel on the property before scrapping those plans a year later."

That's definitely great news. This area deserves attention. It's a very nice part of the River.

The Riverview Towers is getting a rooftop terrace/patio on the 14th floor. It's also being converted to a hotel.

The Aztec Theatre is also getting a rooftop addition.

Oh, you're talking about the "proposed high rise" site they're showing in the overhead aerial map. That's the location of the Canopy by Hilton Hotel.

That building is already under construction.

Soooooo, I'm wondering is this hotel at the Riverview Towers going to be the Cambria Hotel???
Wasn't an 18 story Cambria Hotel going to be erected on the empty lot right next door to the Riverview Tower building??

Just a wondering thought.....

Any info on this?????

Have a great Sunday evening!!

It's just a guess, but that's a possibility. This is saying they're adding the rooftop terrace space. I remember the Cambria Hotel had one also.

Good guess that this is becoming the Cambria Hotel. The bulk of this building is occupied by the City of San Antonio. When Frost moves its employees to the new Frost Tower, many city departments will move into the old Frost Tower (after renovations). This will free up Riverview Towers to be converted into a possible hotel.

Someone mentioned this somewhere and I cannot find it but here is the article.

Quote:
The 20-story Riverview Towers at 111 Soledad St. may be getting a new owner, just as its seeking to add a rooftop bar and convert at least some of it space to a hotel.

The property is under contract, a person with knowledge of the deal — but not involved in it — confirmed. The person, who asked not to be identified out of concern for maintaining relationships in the local commercial real estate market, did not know who the proposed buyer is.

A request for conceptual approval for a new rooftop bar on the building's 14th and 15th floors will go before the city of San Antonio's Historic and Design Review Commission on Wednesday. Plans call for a new trellis structure over the proposed bar, as well as a new street-level canopy, updated facades and several new signs to display the name and logo of a future hotel.

The property is currently an office building. While plans submitted to the HDRC describe the project as a "San Antonio Dual Brand Hotel," they do not make it clear whether the entire building will become a hotel or whether part of it will remain office space.

The project has been designed by New Orleans-based architecture company John T. Campo & Associates Inc.

Separate deal from Cambria.

Preliminary HDRC agenda has a 14 story hotel tower at 202 N St. Mary's.
