Very characterful, futuristic and exciting! This tower will be a centerpiece on any movie or TV show set in Miami, I'm probably going to get a fridge magnet of this tower once it's built.

I have a question: Is Miami ever going to actually get around to BUILDING any of the multitude of supertall proposals it's approved in the last decade or so?

I can't imagine any city that would look more beautiful than Miami with a new supertall or 5 but for whatever reason, all that keeps happening is proposal after proposal with nothing ever seeming to materialize.

What gives?

That is a good question that we have been asking ourselves for years now !
There are 9 proposed Supertalls for Miami over 300 meters :
http://www.skyscrapercenter.com/comp...t=Show+Results

but the closest I see being built first is One Brickell Citi Centre @ 317 m | 1,040 feet high since the developer is SWIRE from Hong Kong and already has a track record in Miami along with deep pockets.

I'm confused. Why are people commenting on the rejected Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners as if that's what's going to be built? The title of the article posted said the site is listed. The article says that this was the winning design for that RFP:

But even this isn't being built, anymore, if I understand. 844 feet will still be a substantial tower if the eventual developer wants to go to that. And it'll likely look a helluva lot better than the Rogers Stirk Harbour proposal.
