Saw some concrete pumping happening today. Thinking it might be for the elevator shaft. Work has been steady for the last few months. Expecting to see the building starting to rise up soon.

Man, that little corner of downtown sure is densifying. Like a substantial amount.

Feds were in town to announce $16M in funding support for this development.

Would have been nice to see that money thrown at a project that maybe wasnt fully funded on a surface lot or something. Wasnt that building already funded for construction?

Can't remember. Maybe this was just the public presentation part of funding that was previously committed.

That sound you hear is the UofW sucking up a huge percentage of Federal $$ earmarked towards affordable housing for their block of white towers. It's good for them, but makes it harder on all the smaller local not-for-profits to fund their own projects and maintain properties.

A bit unclear, is it 20 or 21 total floor count? Both numbers mentioned. Do we know the height?
Their future project.. hoping it will be built as they promise once this project is done....
20 floors @ 634 Portage is listed at 215 ft.. (65 metres) .So likely about that height here? Somewhere between 215 - 225?

How does it make it harder for smaller players? Just more competition chasing fewer dollars kinda thing?

Don't you know? There HAS to be a dark cloud behind every silver lining. You just have to look for it.

I am on a board for one of the local not-for-profits, and there is only so much $$ to go around. It's not a dark cloud, it's just the reality.

Is this federal housing grant money one time only or recurring annually or biannually?
