Looks nice, but difficult to see the full design from these angles.

Notice how WP south and east are shown as well, but I suspect these are the older versions.

I'm in the middle about the design. I kind of think it's too boxy on the river side but I like the north side angles. Kind of reminds me of a lesser version of Sofitel over there in a way.

I see what you are saying in terms of orientation (perhaps this is a nod to The Sterling) and was even going to make the Sofitel comparison, but if they can execute on this design without dumbing it down too much, this could be one of the best from this boom. Even more surprising considering it's a hotel designed by HKS in a spot no one really thought was in play right now. It's also hard to get mad at another "box" when that diagram shows all of the boxes along the river, including newer additions like Wolf Point West.

It looks like the new Downtown zoning proposal will be in the next city council meeting and adopted on June 1

Following due passage and approval, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect on June 1, 2016.

1001 South State yesterday: I was surprised to see that even the concrete top (the slab around the cheesehole) is short tangents rather than a smooth curve. Maybe a metal slab cover will go on later.

Last I knew the pictured structure wasn't being demo'd, but having a floor added to it. Maybe demo as in general gutting?

Such a huge fan of this proposal from Tishman Realty (not Speyer) and VDT.......I was disappointed to see that it's not on the agenda for this week's Plan Commission meeting.....does anyone know if all of the entitlement issues have been worked out/is it anticipated to make an appearance at next month's meeting?

Just looked up for permits for this. Foundation permit is still pending because they've had various parts of it denied such as the landscape review, geotech review, etc. I'm guessing it'll be a little while before we see this thing before - maybe 1+ months but who knows.

There is no demolition, unless you mean some interior demolition. What is shown is preparation for another floor to be added to the existing structure.

Since many of the proposals from this boom have shifted to U/C, I thought it would be good to update the list of sites we're still waiting to see proposals for.

1. Related – Spire (should be seeing proposal soon)
2. Georgetown Cos. – Gap on State (should be seeing proposal soon)
3. SAIC – State/Harrison (have seen nothing recently)
4. Lennar – Wells/Huron
5. Related – South Wells land in South Loop

Any other big ones?

I don't have any insider info, but I know they plan to redevelop the site once Gap's lease expires in 2017. Given the timeline for downtown developments I'd think we'd see something in the next few months.

Updated list:

1. Related – Spire (should be seeing proposal soon)
2. Georgetown Cos. – Gap on State (should be seeing proposal soon)
3. SAIC – State/Harrison (have seen nothing recently)
4. Lennar – Wells/Huron
5. Related – South Wells land in South Loop
6. Macerich – Wabash/Illinois
7. Wolf Point East/South updates
