S.A. probably has more downtown residents, and the use of the word plethora, meaning a abundance of parks in all shapes and sizes. Some street level some River level.

I sense a bit of sarcasm there Alexjon, do you have something against Fox Tech? The school is fine, if you are going to criticize anything it should be the parents of the students.

By the way Brackenridge H.S. is also downtown (kind of) as are a bunch of small charter schools.

Oh, and I agree with shirt, KC has always been known for its downtown residents, not as much as San Francisco or Portland, but they have a solid history of a residential DT. And face it, most of SA's DT residents are poor and educated. If you don't believe me, why don't you go walking by some of the larger apartment buildings. Not until recently has their been a larger number of wealthy people moving to DT.

And Kevin, I don't know why you want them but, Fox Tech's address is 637 N. Main Ave, Brackenridge's is 400 Eagleland Dr. Providence's is 1215 N St Marys St, and Central Catholic's is 1403 N Saint Marys St.

Thanks. I was just curious to see where they were. I've been around downtown and hadn't noticed them. At least none that looked public, as in SAISD. Those all look to be inside downtown. The only one I would question is the Fox Tech one which is south of Durango.

My elemetary school, Bonham Elementary is right behind Rosario's on Alamo and St. Mary's. There was another school over by Victoria Commons, don't remember the name.

... and the principal, and the faculty and the district's mishandling of the school until the late 90s.

Up until a few years ago, the bulk of downtown residents in Portland were students and the elderly. Now they're building condos left and right (Ladd Tower, Benson Tower, the Eliot, to name a few). Kinda like downtown SA (Where the elderly lived in places like the Casino building).

Fox Tech is near the Central Library, north of Durango.

Back to the subject of books...

there is a building on Houston street called the Book Building. Is it at all related to books?

I'm pretty sure that building was just named after someone named Book. Isn't it supposed to be restored as part of Piazza San Delayedzo?

Yeah the architect was Dwight Book.
If you walk by, the closest windows to the river have renderings of the PSL; I haven't walked up to them, just driven by and seen them through the window.

they used to have a plasma screen with renderings and fancy talk about how great the place would be....that was a couple of years ago.

the book building would make an incredible boutique hotel - maybe an ACE?

I love the Ace. Kinda working for the state (kinda), I get paid once a month so it's always tempting to pull some of that money for a stay at the Ace. Everyone I know who has stayed has loved it, and one friend who was staying there called me actually hyperventilating saying "OH-MY-GOD-THIS-IS-COOOOOOOOLLLLL-WHEEZE."
