If I'm not mistaken PM has 18 stories above ground, Aqua will be 24.

You can see the difference in the video.

This project has alot of bare concrete, I think the developers should use it for advertising space.

A-town, I'm hoping they cover all that concrete with some reflective paneling like the rendering would lead you to believe.

Thanks for pointing that out to me RobMidtowner, I never noticed that. Just make sure when you're driving down 10th street you don't have your high beams on, wouldn't want to blind yourself.

It's actually 19. There is one floor below grade which is for parking and Publix.

That's because this project is being done right in that it's actually building to the side and rear lot lines. If future buildings next door do the same we'll actually have some real urbanism for a change. I just hate how so many new buildings here don't touch.

Isn't that a characteristic of all modern cities though, the nontouching buildings? Just curious.

Towers, yes, but at the base, no. I was referring to the base. Narrows breaks in the streetwall (unless properly fenced) can become havens for crime. They also break up the continuity of the pedestrian experience.

A related thing that floors me is when people complain about the sides of buildings being blank along an interior lot line adjacent to a vacant lot. They then make developers spend lots of money to pretty them up, when the whole point is that one day there will be a building next door that will screen the view.

OK, thanks for the clairfication, I completely agree with you. Streetscapes should be continous. That's what baffles me somewhat about the complaints with Novare's podium style with Viewpoint and Metropolis. Many of the podiums allow for the lot next door to 'merge' into the base of Novare's building and make it feel as a continous strip along the street.

Thank you for the explanation.

This same thing came up last night at the neighborhood land use meeting. The Midtown Heights project is building all the way to the lot line between them and the current buildings there, meaning they need the fire-rated wall on that side of the building. This creates a massive (150 ft long I believe) solid wall that, though not visible from all over the place, could still be seen walking or driving on West Peachtree. They talked a lot about fixing it up...though I don't know what will happen with it.

Is it me, or is placing the windows on the sides already a bit too much? I believe they should complete the entire structure (height wise) and then begin making it shine.

I understand, but I believe too much risk is involved... Either way, it's a cool ass building. I can't wait to see it when it's finished. (BTW, I'm a Bio Student, not a salesman, lol) Atlanta is growing fast as hell, and I'm lovin every second of it. I just wish they'd keep 'em together instead of spreading it all out. Ya know?
