I think this is going to be a great building. It is also the last undeveloped parcel of the old sea of parking lots between Washington and Second that was the post war 20th century version of the Mill District. It feels like Minneapolis is finishing something with this project.

This version of the project appears to be a COVID casualty. The office component of the project is out, and they're looking at switching from condos to apartments. They're seeking an extension of their exclusive development rights, seeking to bring a new proposal forward in 2021. You can read about it here: https://lims.minneapolismn.gov/RCA/7111 .

Sad, but thanks for the update. Sure sounds like we can kiss most of the cool aspects of the original proposal goodbye. I almost hope they lose development rights and something more interesting comes along later. This section from the above link makes me think this will end up pretty boring:

Quote:
In response to changing local market conditions, the development team has since revised its development plan to a more modest-scale, 143-unit multifamily ownership housing project, targeting a unit mix of 50% market-rate / 50% affordable at 60-70% AMI.
